Swearing in videos.

Swearing bad for videos?

This is the most ******* thread I've ever read on this ******* website. ******* you all you pieces of ****! *****************************!!!! I'm so ****************** angry!!!

Yes I feel that swearing can be bad for videos. That's how I feel as a YouTuber. As a viewer of other Videos I feel that if someone is swearing well they aren't the type of speaker I am likely not interested in hearing. Especially if it gets excessive. However if you are the type of person who does not care about what other people think or say about you than you shouldn't care either way about swearing. I can understand if you feel the need to cut down on saying certain things but don't let it make you fake. It's kind of like the "hello's" or "how you doing?"-'s I get in real life from people. I kind of just want to break that cordial wall down and really say what's on my mind and keep it real but I treat others how I want to be treated in the real so..... :p

That is a pretty tough question. I swear constantly around people I'm familiar with. But with people I've just met I keep swearing on the low and build up over time. Tbh I think it might be best to ease into swearing in videos as your audience grows if that's what you want to do in the end. Starting off with a barrage of curse words could probably be off-putting to some people. I've watched too much AVGN to care personally though! lmao

Yep. As with everything: play to the audience.

If you were doing education videos chances any audience would want it to be "clean"; but for a general audience (who do often swear themselves) anyone who cares enough will go away, leaving behind people who don't.

The rest is just me discussing why different audiences like different things.
 
for me, I do the odd swearing here and there, but I wont constantly do it like every other word though
 
its hard to tell realy....i have some videos where i swear loads and rage out but then others where my language is fine.but i do have a warning in the description so people know what to expect.

so far i have had no complaints from subs or anyone else but i've realised my nephews cant watch my minecraft stuff due to the jokes and swearing :/

personnaly i dont think it matters too much, if it does im sure people will tell you :)
 
Thanks guys for all your input. It's crazy I wasn't expect so many people to say so many things that make sense. I learned some stuff thanks to everyone!
