Subscription Exhaustion?

hey do they still do that "get updates for when this channel uploads" thing?

Yeah, I know it's an option on the app. But I don't know if Desktop notifications have been enabled for it yet. I only get notifications for a select few myself, but it's good that it's an option. I check my Subscriptions feed regularly though, as sometimes things get missed.

I do try to watch and comment on almost every video on my sub list. It really does get a little daunting to see like 6-8 videos waiting in the subs, especially since some people I try to watch make 30 minutes of lp videos almost daily though.

One channel I subbed to did 25 episodes of Kingdom Hearts, each one was 30 min+. Other channel I subbed is on part 54 of Darksouls (20min+). It's great that they are making thing, but jeez...
(Doesn't help that they are also smaller channels)

I understand where your coming from man I too got myself in the place like 2 years ago where I was subscribed to all these channels but did not have the time to watch.

I eventually broke it down at one point where whoever was making an effort with who regularly commented or engaged with either me or my videos in some way and those who haven't were swiftly unsubscribed to.

It was just a quick and easy way to clean things up where I am still subbed to the channels I want to support but also unsubbed to those who either spam or make no effort in interacting with me despite me doing my best to interact with them.

I probably have at least 300+ subscriptions. So I certainly don't feel bad for not watching them all, but the entire fact that I'm subscribed to so many is exactly that - a subscription burn out, too many people putting out overly similar content with nothing new/exciting, and the ones who do make new/exciting stuff not posting frequently enough. There are exceptions to that but even among the best of my subscriptions I like variety.

I don't feel bad. I have to create content just like the YouTubers I watch. I can't watch or keep up with everyone I am subscribed to. It's impossible, there just isn't enough time in the day to do that.

I try to clean up my subscriptions ever month. I keep it clean and to a number max to 10 that I actually really watch. Like this, I don't have any headaches and regrets :D

I don't watch all videos at all! Not even close actually. I'm more of a sporadic viewer, even though I enjoy most of the videos (or I wouldn't subscribe). I am one of those people you will need a good thumbnail and title for to get me to click.

I try to be a really good subscriber. If I've subbed to a channel, I try very hard to watch whatever videos are uploaded, give 'em a like and a comment, and really stay engaged. However, as I'm subscribed to more and more channels, that's getting a bit harder to keep up with.

Added to this, some channels seem to dump 2-4 videos in a day into my subscription list, to either catch up on a low time of posting or for whatever other reason. Trying to view all that would seriously exhaust me.

Anyone else feel bad when they just can't keep up with their subscriptions? Am I foolish for trying to watch it all?

I'm glad you are still watching my channel! I truly appreciate it!
It's a difficult question because it brings up small channels versus large channels: small folks truly appreciate interaction, where as larger channels might not even notice you!
Then it comes to number of videos per week. If someone is hitting you with 2-3 videos a DAY, that's just crazy talk, unless each one truly is a gem. One a week gets my attention, and gets my interaction.
Maybe separating the wheat from the chaff might be in order more often.
I try to be very selective about whom I subscribe to. I want them to bring information or joy or happiness or education into my life.
If they aren't, they get unsubbed or not subbed to begin with.
Difficult call, my friend!
Let me know what you decide!

I'm subscribed to over 100 channels, but have a select view that I stop and watch every video for.
