It's okay! Everybody starts out with strategies that aren't quite what they should be at first. Now if you concentrate on making great content and really marketing your channel in the right way, I'm sure you're going to grow organically. Good luck!
 
Yea I was considering this but the more i thought about it the more i realized that these people that would be subbing to me wouldn't actually like my content (probably) so I didnt. I knew it would make me feel empty if that make sense. So I decided to do it the RIGHT way! GJ on getting away from that.
 
Glad you learned from it! I thought about doing sub 4 sub early on too because I just wanted people to come and just see my stuff. Glad you learned what you needed to go do to get authentic subs. Keep making awesome stuff and love what you do!
 
At least you realise it now and start working on your videos to gain real audiences instead. That's really good! Keep it up and you will get big in the future :)
 
s4s kills your retention. Good you caught it in time. You can Blacklist common s4s words under Community Settings. s4subbers are attracted to other s4s comments, so if you block the comments, it should die down.
 
Happy to see you realizing your mistakes and acting upon it! Great job! To be honest though if I were in your shoes, I'd start anew. It's all up to you though, just keep posting!

Yeah reddit's a little complicated in a sense. You don't have to build a community their you can actually build it on any social media site after a given time. However, what worked for me so far is developing my own friendship with certain subreddits. If you choose reddit just don't put your content everywhere because reddit hates that.

Yup, it didn't take me long to realise. It just gives you a fake sense of motivation, "maybe there are people out there watching me" and doesn't give you drive that you would originally have if you didn't have all those fake subs. But it works as a motivator too, so I guess it can be debatable.

Haha, I can't afford to start anew or I would too. I put a lot of effort and time into this and I have made mistakes, but I'm not willing to abandon it. :)

And just a huge thank you to you all! I actually expected to get some hate.. But people here are really positive and thank you for understanding me! I will continue to pursue the dreams I have and also I'll be around here! Lurking... Haha, nah, taking part in it! Thank you so much, guys!!!
 
You don't have to apologize. No one here should have any problem with how you operate your channel. But it's good that you stopped engaging in an activity that is harmful to your channel ranking.

I've never gotten very many people wanting to do sub4sub with me, but I do have one person who persistently asks me to subscribe to his channel. He is active on my channel otherwise and we've had some short conversations on there. But normally he'll then ask me to subscribe to him and that always kills the conversation as I never respond to it.
