Should Your Face Be Used As Profile Picture? Benifits?

If you're a vlogger then definitely show your face. It doesn't have to be just a plain photo of yourself, try photoshop it with a colour background and try different things out. My profile picture on YTtalk is the same as I use on youtube so you can kind of get the idea. Just try a few different things and see what you like.

However, if you're a gamer, I don't think its necessary to show your face as no-one sees it anyway.

Just my thoughts

I was down at YT not too long ago for a conference and they actually spoke about this specifically...

1. Put whatever will register with your audience
2. The icon will be tiny, so account for that...
3. Related to #2, its better NOT to put your channel name if it'll result in the font being tiny, because then no one will see it
4. Think about the people that don't already know your channel when they see your pic, communicating what the channel is about is better then just throwing a name.

My takeaway, its okay to user your face, if you think people will be drawn to it. It definitely works with a lot of beauty / style ppl.

I'm not very photogenic, so I didn't use my face.

Believe it or not, my avatar has some symbolism. The monocle and top hat signify sophistication, and square head signifies simplicity. My channel is about making sophisticated things simpler for people. The mustache is there because it looks cool XD

You don't have to put as much though into it as I did, but a well thought out avatar is beneficial in the long run, because people will take your channel seriously.

I personally like seeing faces as a profile picture for vloggers. It adds to the branding. For businesses you can have your picture and business or channel name.

Depends on how you look, as someone mentioned before. If oyu look good sohwing your face can be a bonus but if you do not showing your face can cause problems, it shouldnt but people always judge even without meaning to. Also obviously depends on type of channel.

I think it depends on the type of the youtube channel, although i think it can help and you always have benefit when you interact with the audience.

I think it there are benefits both ways. I am gonna stick with my voice till i build a character out of that.

I see no problem with that at all. Well, maybe unless you have an arm growing out of your forehead. Well, now that I think about it it's YouTube we're talking about... =)
