Reddit Sucks...

On reddit, quality is more important than everyone else. If you have great content, there is a great chance it goes viral on reddit and brings in hundreds or even thousands of views, but if your video is just average or poor, you will get downvoted in a matter of seconds.
There are a lot of assholes who just downvote you for posting in the first place though.

Sometimes I'll spend about an hour watching other people's videos that they post on Reddit. If I like anything about the video, I'll post a comment on their YT page so then they have a connection to my YT page. I can get subs this way. It's a lot of work, but I've found some good stuff out there to give me inspiration. A lot of the Reddit posters are other small YouTubers who appreciate the comments.

And that shouldn't discourage you at all. Your posts aren't going to get downvoted every time you post a piece of content.
It doesn't discourage me from posting, it's just a pain in the a**e when something gets buried before anyone has a chance to check it.

If you stick to only posting short and dynamic content, at least at first, people will come to recognize that you come up with good content. For gaming, for example, rather than simply posting every new videoo, I would recommend only posting funny/interesting/awesome clips from your videos as animated gifs while posting the link to the video in the comment section. If you don't have a highlight like that in your video then you shouldn't be putting that video out anyway. And I mean, the clip has to be something you'd be excited to show your friends and interesting enough that you believe hard core gamers would think it was interesting/funny. Also, be mindful of what time of day posts seem to do better in the subreddit you're posting to.

The first couple upvotes or downvotes on a Reddit submission set the trend. The more upvotes something gets, the more it will get because it becomes more visible.

I YouTube about television, so I generally post my videos to the subreddits of those shows. Ill generally get 5-10 upvotes and be near the top of that subreddit for the day.

Using the Television subreddit is another matter. Sometimes my videos get deleted by the mods after a few minutes. One time, I made it to the front page of Reddit (also known as /r/all) from the Television subreddit.

Reddit success is very random.

Yttalk won't let me post a link but you could try redditlater.com. They have a section where it answers the question "When should I post?"
That's actually a pretty helpful looking website. Wow. Never ever post on Wednesday at 3am if you want a lot of upvotes lol. It's very interesting how the best time to post varies both from sub to sub and even number of upvotes. It seems that the posts with thousands of upvotes are so compelling that it matters less which day they are uploaded. Very good website.

More stuff for me to play around with. :)

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste time with the reddit trolls. They live to downvote post without ever looking at the video.
