Outro or Intro?

Intro
I just hate watching them. They usually do not show anything special and many big youtubers do not even have them.

Outro
When I see an outro, I know that it's about time I should close the video.

So take it you aren't really one for channels which try to give you more content to watch like interactive outros and stuff?

I managed to compose both within a day. Just download blender and customise it to your liking. Then leave it for a couple hours to render. If the sound doesn't work on the avi file, I have a video on my channel to solve that! And an outro is quite easy to make. It needs to be simple otherwise, your outro will be long because people will need to take a long time reading the text on it. Short and sweet! If you know what you're doing, it doesn't take that much effort to be honest.

I don't mind intros but I personally do not have one just an outro showing my previous video and a random one that I choose.

I think intros and outros create consistency on a channel, particularly if its just one playlist. Mine is 20 seconds long, and that's pushing it, but it does give information about the upcoming video. Thought frequently about shortening it though.

I would certainly recommend having both, but the timing is essential. Inform and don't bore is probably my advice.

I think intros and outros are important for multiple reasons, however it depends on the style of video you are making.
Take gaming as an example (because it is over saturated as a market and easier to explain.
If you are making a video that is fast paced and you want to get the viewer right into the action, leave the intro out but include an outro. If you are making a slow paced, calm video then include and intro and an outro. Or if it is a fast paced video you can include a fast paced intro, with a max of 6-8 seconds. It all boils down to personal preference.
It is one of those things that it comes down to an individual video and your aim in the production side of things. How your intro is paced will set up the expected paced for the rest of the video.
You would not have a short, fast paced intro if you are doing a gameplay of Sims 3.
Equally, you would not have a long intro if you had a 1 minute Call of Duty kill clip.

Hope this helps somebody.

No intro for me either...I find my audience tend to skip the intro to get right into the main part. But I always post an outro with snippets of other videos and subscribe button. In the outro always promt your audience to subscribe. And use annotations to keep the traffic.[DOUBLEPOST=1447188600,1447188540][/DOUBLEPOST]Yes I do my outros and all annotations with an online tool, called outromaker.

Used to have only intro before, but now have both - intro and outro. Intro is pretty short (4.5 seconds) but outro is a little bit longer (approx 10 seconds) where show some of latest videos and add social informations & subscribe button.

Just curious on peoples opinions on the matter because in my eyes I think a outro leaves more of a positive impact then an intro. But I just wanted to know others opinions

I like to have an intro and outro to stay consistent on branding. You want them to know who you are at the beginning of the video and right before they decide what they are watching next. Some people prefer to put a small clip at the beginning of their video, then a brief intro, but that is up to the content. I have one video I did like that, all of my other videos have the intro at the very beginning.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your channel! :)
