New YT feature...add a card ?!?

The one thing I don't like about the new Cards is that they kill the ability to use the Call To Action. It seems you can use one or the other, but not both.

Put your Call To Action links in the description. Links will be hyper-linked for users including on mobile devices, as far as I know.

That's another reason that I stopped using annotations. People are lazy and never check the description. My philosophy was to take away the annotations and direct viewers to the description to get them more accustomed to looking at the info that I put there.

I got Cards today too.

You can't control the duration because it is there for the duration of the video after you set the starting point. You can't see it because it is very faint. If you hover over it, it will become fully lit.

These are absolutely better than annotations because annotations don't work on mobile devices. With 70% of my audience on mobile, it didn't make a lot of sense to use them. I stopped using annotations earlier this year.

This morning, I started going through my top videos and adding cards. I also posted on Facebook to let people know what they were and how to use them.
Wow! I had NO idea that mobile users don't see the annotations or feature video now it ALL makes sense  Does this also apply to people that use tablets or can they see annotations?

My viewers are really young, so the pretty pop-ups of the Call To Action grab their attention and actually work VERY well for me. I tried getting them to read the description links for a while and tracking showed those links generated 69 clicks, the CTA generated 641 clicks over the same time frame.

If anyone uses it in their video is finds someone that included it in a creative way can you share the link? I'm interested to see this in action
