i am seeing a rise in new youtubers with great equipment, 0_0, makes me wonder, if like they lurked for a while and then went "Today is the day", or they just got up one morning saw youtube and went "YUP, youtuber now", or maybe they have rich parents, i dont know the logistics of it but damn, some great short film makers, vloggers, gamers, sprouting up out of nowhere, it's really a fantastic thing to witness really.

What are your thoughts on this?
 
I've noticed a lot of the people who are starting youtube have REALLY looked into it and are trying to make high quality videos directly from the start.
 
Could be that, some may of also used such equipment for other means, and then thought let's try youtube. In the end it isn't just what you use, its how you use it.
 
I don't know about the youngest but if you have a job then equipment is not a problem. Decent DLSR camera is not that expensive these days. Other stuff too. So if you have a job then it's just a matter of "WHEN you will be able to buy the stuff".
 
I think a lot of people starting now have watched a lot of YouTube videos and have seen how everyone figured it out - there's a really high standard to aspire to on the site now which I think inspires a lot of people. I shot my first couple of videos on my laptop webcam but I was saving up for a DSLR as soon as I decided to start YouTube properly
 
Well, a few people have commented on the equipment I have. Blue Yeti, Rode PSA1 and a Gaming PC. However, I did do YouTubing before but stopped. Though, beforehand I started out with a headset mic and a terrible PC. Then I landed myself a job after having looked for a while and started to upgrade parts of my setup, for my own benefit, not for YouTube.

Though, it is very hard for people to watch or listen to videos if the audio is really bad. I'm the same, if the audio is too bad, I won't watch it - mainly because it hurts my ears. That's why I like to have a decent microphone, plus, its good for Skyping with too.

It's just another 'era' in YouTube, I suppose, where people start out with a bit better equipment and personally I see nothing wrong with that. People can spend their money on what they wish c:
 
I knew that I would have the slowest start to my channel ever if I started with crap quality videos, so I spent about a year in the dark. Saving up cash for hardware, taking classes in school to learn Photoshop, Googling tutorials on how to edit videos on Vegas, etc. From there, I posted videos nonstop! :D
 
It's fantastic. I'm glad people are taking the time to learn and be good from the start. If one's mind is willing to soak up information, they can do amazing things. If they happen to lurk YTtalk and see any of our advice or anything, that makes me even happier because we might just be helping, or maybe 'guiding' the future of YouTube.

And screw those people with rich parents. :cool: The lot of em. If they didn't have to earn their equipment or anything. That can be nearly as satisfying as earning your upgrades and putting 110% into it. :shifty2:

But what do I know. I'm just some ghetto kid. :eek: I can't possibly comprehend basic things!
