Yeah it would be a good match for your channel. Did you go to vidcon this year? I know you got invited. That would have been a good opportunity to sell some. ^^
I've thought about it, but im not a good traveller, and after researching it, its a 17 hour trip there, a 42 hour trip back, on 6 PLANES! .... SIX!!!
so yeah, im going to probably leave that for now, possibly try the amsterdam one in future? once they've had a run through to see how it was

6 planes to LA? Where were you starting from, The North Pole lol ? Are there no direct flights from London or do they have to refuel ?

I think you looked at some extreme backwater company, lol the hours and the planes sounds way over the top. I live much further than the UK in a trash heap and there's still a direct flight to NY (I imagine it's not too bad from NY to LA since it's on the same dang continent). The UK should be a lot more advanced :eeks:

I searched for a while and they all have 2-3 stops per flight annoyingly.

I suppose I am searching for airports in my area, I'm in the north east of England not London, London is a big trip in itself

I think merchandising is all about understanding who your subscribers are and what they want. You should factor their demographics – age, gender, race, religion, environment, spending power, etc. (e.g. If your subscribers are 15-20 year old girls, you can consider making "girly" phone cases, baby-t's, etc.)

That said:

Q: "Is Merchandising considered a good way to make money?"
A: If you sell your fans the right product, at the right time, at the right place, then YES.

*The challenge is this requires "venturing" and "trial and error" which usually requires upfront cost and the risk of dead stock (merch that doesn't sell and ends up collecting dust in your room).

I don't have any merch in the sense you are talking about (tshirts, mugs, etc). I do have an ebook that I sell (and a few currently being written) that teach people magic tricks.
I have a custom deck of cards, that I had made, but I don't sell it.
I think products targeted to a specific audience could be quite effective. If I get to be a larger channel, I would probably sell my own merch.
