For example I have never monetized this video yet there is an add. When I play it on YouTube
That's weird. I didn't think YouTube was monetizing vidoes without creator permission.

When I first monetized I had about 3 videos and only made a couple cents a day. Now I make a lot more, but nothing I can live off of. Even a "small" channel has the chance that a video may suddenly get tons of views. It would suck to not be monetized and suddenly get millions of views. I've had random videos that maybe made less than $1 ever get a ton of views in one day and make a decent amount of money.Hey guys!
I'm just wondering, why do small YouTubers monetize their videos? (I mean channels that get like 100 views or less per video). Do they make any cash from it? Does it help views? I'm just wondering, as I was under the impression you needed a lot of views to get paid? But I'm coming across more and more small channels who have adverts in front of their videos.
Thanks to anyone who answers.![]()
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe. I agree. Ken for Prez!!For example I have never monetized this video yet there is an add. When I play it on YouTube
I got flagged for a song I got from the "free" library offered by Fullscreen. Apparently the song got changed to sell for $40 somewhere down the line! Nobody ever told me these songs cost money and Fullscreen still says the AudioMicro library is free. My buddy's videos were un-monteized randomly for music he downloaded from the "free" library too. He replaced the music with other music he downloaded from FS and they worked fine. This could be the final straw.... Unless my Spreadshirt store makes any sales there is really no reason for me to give FS a cut of money.[DOUBLEPOST=1398957875,1398957797][/DOUBLEPOST]Well....when I first started Youtube 2 years ago...I put ads on my videos not knowing any better. Then when I realized it...wasn't really necessary, I stopped doing ads all together. But then a while ago, I wanted to be partnered by Fullscreen so that I would have access to their song library (legal to do covers)...and I had to use ads. That's my story hehe.
There was an ad when I played it and I clicked the add 4 times because it was awesomeFor example I have never monetized this video yet there is an add. When I play it on YouTube

Lol honestly Stef.....my Youtube still says I'm partnered with Youtube and not Fullscreen. I've messaged them to work it out (around Christmas time)....and never got a reply, they said they'd get back to me. After a while I just gave up. So..I'm not sure if I'm technically partnered with them. I'd love to be able to do covers..but I fear the copyright strikes.....and I fear losing my channel. I don't want to risk anything hehe. Are you with Fullscreen? And why dont you upload your covers they're great![]()
I sincerely doubt that'd be a turn-off. Assuming you meet the requirements for a partnership in the time new subscribers come, you can get a partnership. If you don't want to make them feel like it was too sudden or abrupt make a video saying "I'm partnered!" make them feel like you all accomplished that together. They will not leave as easily even if it was kind of abrupt.Honestly, I don't even have a single video up (My first video will be posted on the seventh,) and I have the channel monetized, it's not about money now, because obviously I'll have very few if any views, but if the channel ever does grow, I don't want my followers to suddenly see ads when they never did before, it could be a turn-off, so I think it's better to monetize now and allow any viewer watching and following to get used to the fact that my channel has that rather than feeling betrayed and annoyed if I put ads later on out of the blue.
I used a song from here for my latest video instead, it didn't get flagged. The song isn't quite as good thoughReally?? :/ well that doesn't sound too good..thanks for the heads up.
