Just wondering why..

Hey guys!

I'm just wondering, why do small YouTubers monetize their videos? (I mean channels that get like 100 views or less per video). Do they make any cash from it? Does it help views? I'm just wondering, as I was under the impression you needed a lot of views to get paid? But I'm coming across more and more small channels who have adverts in front of their videos.

Thanks to anyone who answers. :)

Well....when I first started Youtube 2 years ago...I put ads on my videos not knowing any better :P. Then when I realized it...wasn't really necessary, I stopped doing ads all together. But then a while ago, I wanted to be partnered by Fullscreen so that I would have access to their song library (legal to do covers)...and I had to use ads. That's my story hehe.

It slowly adds up.. Sure you wont get it over night but what does it hurt to let it add up and then one day you get that check in the mail.

Because they are cockey little s***s
That too..

Also YouTube is putting adds up on videos that aren't monetized. They want to get paid too.. I had adds on some of my videos that I had not Monetized. I have an old channel that I don't post too and have never Monetized and all the videos have adds.. So just cause there is an add does not mean it is monetized

Fullscreen is to blame for mine as well. I wanted access to their apps and I had to use ads to get them, so oh well. :P

Honestly, I don't even have a single video up (My first video will be posted on the seventh,) and I have the channel monetized, it's not about money now, because obviously I'll have very few if any views, but if the channel ever does grow, I don't want my followers to suddenly see ads when they never did before, it could be a turn-off, so I think it's better to monetize now and allow any viewer watching and following to get used to the fact that my channel has that rather than feeling betrayed and annoyed if I put ads later on out of the blue.
