Is there any good free software for making thumbnails?

I currently use Paint.net which is ok but I really feel like I could be making better thumbnails. Any suggestions?

It is an online photo editor, I have seen online tutorials on YouTube for making thumbnails on that website. I personally have never used it, I use Photoshop instead!

Before using Photoshop I used a free software called GIMP. It's really good and I highly recommend it as a free alternative

Yes, i agree, picmonkey is awesome as you dont have to download anything and it is probably the easiest to use

Gimp is a free alternative to photoshop and is really easy to learn!

FOTOR is an online free tool which is awesome because you can select Youtube size and its pretty and super easy to use with some great fonts that we have found really useful for making thumbnails!

Yup- its easy you just click "open" and it lifts files from your harddrive!

They have recently started asking you to upgrade to the paid version- but its fairly non-invasive and I do just fine using its free features.
