Is gaming TAKING OVER youtube?!?!?

I think it is kind crazy. A while ago I watched a bunch of gamers just so I could understand it. And there are so many horrible gamers out there. I watched PewDiePie and we was actually entertaining and then there were a lot of smaller gamers that I couldn't even watch. There is a reason the popular gamers are popular. I think it is kind of weird that people who make gaming videos on YouTube aspire for YouTube to be their career. Now there is nothing wrong with that but, I just think it is weird that aspiration in life to play video games for a full time job.[DOUBLEPOST=1408655181,1408655058][/DOUBLEPOST]And I am horrible at video games and would never dream of starting a gaming channel. I might someday upload one or two gaming videos just so I can say that I did it.

See, I think similar to vlogging. There is a lot of it, some of it good, some of it is decent, some of it is people with no sense of editing umm-ing and arr-ing into a camera and droning on and on about nothing.

Gaming on youtube is popular because it can keep you up to date with the latest releases, see what the gameplay is like and also there are the odd entertainers such as Nerdcubed, Dasquirrelsnuts, team epiphany etc etc who can be informative and funny.

And of course people are going to jump on the bang wagon, because they obviously think 'Oh that must be easy to do, you just talk over gameplay.' It isn't. Nothing on youtube is. It's over saturated with everything from vlogging and gaming to anything else you can think of.

It's just that gaming has some of the biggest channels. Take PewDiePie for instance, the shouty Swedish dude...

I had never realized how much gaming actually populates the Youtube community until I joined YTtalk. It really ticked me off at first since they seem to flood the forums from time to time. But eventually I just accepted that they're here to have fun too.

BUT.
The gamers on Youtube that I will never like are the ones that:

A) Are so blissfully unoriginal and still wonder what they're doing wrong.
"Hey guys I'm going to be playing the Call of Duty Ghosts campaign... with commentary" or "So what do you guys think about this new show idea, it's like the one that Captain Sparkles is doing"

B) Do it only for the sake of money.

It maybe really popular on youtube but lets face it vloggers and personalities are still on top because there the ones who get invited to all of the red carpet events and things like that.
Gaming Channels get invited to big events too.............[DOUBLEPOST=1408656642,1408656622][/DOUBLEPOST]

People don't actually do a series because someone else is? Surely not?

Well people look a PewDiePie with 30Million subs and earning at least a million a year, and think they can do the same thing, ans so gaming has become popular on YouTube.

Gaming took over YouTube a long time ago. Right from the start about 3/4 of the top YouTube channels have been gaming related and always will be. :P

Lets face it...................I have got only about 4 subs and 350 views after 25 days
and about 17 videos.........Growing on Youtube is difficult :hot:
But not impossible :running:
Just do this as a hobby and not as a money-earning source...
:cold:
i suggest Getting a real job for that

I make my videos in my free time..........

Just Make sure your videos are catchy and charismatic then people shall be compelled to come back.......
:roflmao2:

I was thinking of doing a Gaming plus Vlogging channel before, but my current videos suit my time schedule more, so i decided to make those...................

Just do what you likka do, and you'll get there in no time:bounce:

This is the worst example you could ever make.
Why? PewDiePie is entertaining for people in the 12-16 years old range. If you are older than that and you enjoy watching someone screaming and acting like a retard while being terrible at the game he's playing, well, I don't know what to say.
It works for him because the majority of Youtube viewers (be it gaming, vlogs, comedy, gurus and s**t etc etc ) are in that age range. He's doing it, it works for him. Good for him but PewDiePie entertaining, maybe, if you are 14.

And if you go on SocialBlade and check the biggest gaming channels, they are all about acting like retarded kids. And that's what the 14 years old viewer wants to watch.

So yeah, that is THE reason why popular gamers are popular.

There are popular gamers with more mature content too but they are not as big and they are far more entertaining.
To be honest, I prefer someone who can tell me something interresting about the game than someone who can scream 4 things "f**k, d**k, boobs and a**"...

Being popular on Youtube is not only about talent and good content.
Because if it was about those qualities, PewDiePie wouldn't be the biggest channel on Youtube, Jenna Marbles wouldn't be in the top 10 and other Youtubers today wouldn't be where they are now.
I'm not saying that their content is bad but there are Youtubers with better content and are absolutely more talented ( To this day I still have to understand Jenna's talent. )

When it comes to gaming being a career, we don't live in 1923 anymore. Gaming became big. Not only on Youtube but everywhere. I'm an ex competitive player and I used to get payed by the organization to play, I had sponsors and every tournament had a prize pool. I know people who came back with 1 milion in the pocket from a tournament this summer. So no, it's not weird. If you have the qualities to become a professional gamer, a good Youtuber/Streamer, why not?
Why a Vlogger can make Youtube his full time job and a Gamer don't ?
I can't understand your logic.
