IS 1080p worth its?

Since I have started youtube I have been uploading in 720p (HD) now I have the ability to upload in 1080p. It takes about 4-5 times as long to render and properly the same to upload. As I said I still upload in in 720p but is there a significant difference between 720p and 1080p?
I upload before I go to sleep, so whether the video takes 20 minutes or 6 hours, it doesn't interfere with what I'm doing.... I prefer high quality if possible

Here's my thought process for quality:

Gaming ,vlogs, and general videos: 720p

Short movies or skits(like Corridor Digital stuff): 1080p all the way

If you're a quality freak, sure go ahead. However, I don't see the difference between 1080p and 720p. When I watch a video, I often use 720p anyway so it doesn't matter. 1080p just takes a lot more time to render and upload.
1280x720 = 921600
1920x1080 = 2073600
Over twice as many pixels, there is a clear difference.
Just like 1440p is over twice as many pixels as 1080p, and 4k is a bit over 4 times as much as 1080p.

Get out filthy casual.

Upload it in whatever resolution it's rendered in.

If your video is rendered in 720p, KEEP it at 720p. Upscaling makes it look horrendous.

Okay, then. I'm getting out of this conversation.

Not necessarily true, I know that over here the average download speed is 14Mb/s, which is more than enough to easily handle any sort of 1080p buffer.
Never knew that. The more you know I guess.
I personally don't see any viewing difference between 720p and 1080p unless it's a game designed for Full HD (Like the Wind Waker HD). Even then, it's minute differences (extra sharpness on rocks, etc). I also don't have a 1080p monitor so I don't get the full experiences watching videos unless it's on my TV :3

But how many can the human eye see in one frame is the real question. Saying this proves that there is a difference, but it doesn't for go whether or not all the pixels are accounted for by the human eye.

I would never watch that smut, 1440p or go home.
Wow... A bit much?[DOUBLEPOST=1388461244,1388460790][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think it's worth it. I mean if you upload at 1080p and people view at 720 or around 400 the picture quality is still remarkable, but it's not that way if you upload at a lower "p".

I see a huge difference from 720 to 1080 but...
If you're watching a 720p video in 360p does it look the same as watching a 1080p video in 360p? May be an extremely stupid question but thought I'd ask anyway. Because most people just watch in the default 360p

I'd say it's a waste of time unless people are asking for it. If your equipment isn't 1080p capable, don't render it as such, there would be no point.
