Today i received mail from Fullscreen which says,
We’d like to give you a quick heads-up on some recent changes YouTube made. Why should you care? Because these changes affect how you earn ad money on your videos, and they also raise important legal / copyright issues.
In the past, if you wanted to place ads on a video, you had to click a box on your YouTube Video Manager to ‘claim’ the video. Well, not anymore. YouTube now automatically places ads on your videos because you’re partnered with Fullscreen!
This is great, but as always you need to be careful to only upload content that’s entirely your own, original creation. If you want to earn ad money, your videos must only contain music and images that you yourself created or properly licensed from rights holders.
With YouTube’s new update, it might sometimes be necessary for you to change your ‘Usage Policy’ when you upload a new video. If you don’t own all—100%—of the content in a video, you must change your Usage Policy from ‘Monetize in all countries’ to ‘Track in all countries’. Please note that this is only necessary for new uploads to your channel.
Here’s how to change your Usage Policy, step by step:
YouTube’s update is a good reminder to always be aware of potential copyright issues in your videos. Please remember that as a Fullscreen creator you’re only allowed to upload content that you yourself created or properly licensed. You aren't allowed to use third-party material or other intellectual property without the correct license agreements.
Whats your take on this?
