Depends on your network.
Thanks
Depends on your network.
First off it's managed and affiliates not partnersIf anyone wants more info, read this article: http://www.adweek.com/videowatch/how-youtubes-new-arrangements-mcns-work-153492
Basically, networks now have to choose between placing a channel as a "Partner" or an "Affiliate". Partners will still have instant monetization of videos and will be protected against any lawsuits from copyright violations as the company will take the hit. Affiliates will be losing instant monetization and will have to hope Youtube's system monetizes their videos on it's own. Also, if you get into copyright issues, you have to deal with them yourself legally, not your network.
Although these copyright policies for Youtube are nothing new, this new network policy will change how easy your videos are monetized now. I'm hoping @Flammy is right in that Fullscreen seems to be adding more Partners then Affliates because I'm with them and am really dreading losing instant monetization. Especially being a gaming channel its a lot harder to make sure YouTube's systems don't write off gamers content as not allowed to be monetized.

Second, I have talked with 5 MCNs about this so far, and all of them have set limits of 1-5Million views monthly for managed because there's really just no sense in us MCNs taking a multi-thousand dollar hit because some channel with 2 subs decided to re-upload the X-Factor

My main issue is that I'm not going to be "managed" (unless Fullscreen really is taking on more "managed" channels then "affiliates") and if that's the case, what's the point of being with a network if I have to allow YouTube's automatic monetizing system? I might as well stay with Adsense & stop Fullscreen from taking 40%. Only real reason to be with a network for me was instant monetization. The difference is the that at the moment, Curse are not protecting their partners, as it is YouTube takes 85% of the hits for the MCNs but when this new ruleset comes in that will no longer be the case, instead the MCN will take 100% of the force of legal issues.Thnx for posting this now I finally understand what is going to happen. I think now the network who goes and places partners instead of affiliates is going to get big and get a lot of partners. Meaning that many will want to leave their networks who won’t offer partnership but will go to affiliate. I am with curse now and hope that Curse will protect their partners as there are doing now. Instead of putting everyone in to the affiliate program.
That's only the ones I've talked to, which don't include Fullscreen, Curse or BigFrame.[DOUBLEPOST=1383665265][/DOUBLEPOST]wow 1 million views minimum for managed![]()
Just to point out, one of the main reasons for this new ruleset was the huge lawsuit that Fullscreen was apart of, after that I hardly think they'll be taking the hit for any smaller channels, but we'll see.Sorry, wrote that out quickly and didn't look to clarify. But I wasn't saying it was bad at all. I COMPLETELY understand why networks are doing it. HOWEVER, why would a network partner with someone with 2 subs anyway? My main issue is that I'm not going to be "managed" (unless Fullscreen really is taking on more "managed" channels then "affiliates") and if that's the case, what's the point of being with a network if I have to allow YouTube's automatic monetizing system? 24th of November is the date@AHelpfulGuy Ok thnx for the clarification, and do you maybe know when this new rule is going to take place is their any time frame for this? As for Curse partners their is yet to be made a statement from their side about all of this so their is nothing certain at the moment.
As for the 1 million rule that is a lot of views to have I get around 500K views a month and for that not being enough to be on the safe side will be a huge disappointment. But like I said lets wait and see what certain networks will do.
