i7 3770k, Enough for Recording? Rendering?

Absolutely when it comes to 690 vs Titan the 690 wins hands down even though it is dual GPU, has higher TDP and might cause some micro-shutter. I think Titan was an Nvidia experiment to see how the market would respond and seeing the results most of the enthusiasts like the Titan despite the 690 outperforming it in every task and costing about the same.

Yea the titan is supposed to be the "flagship" iirc, something to show to investors and such me thinks. I don't think the 690 outperforms the titan in EVERY way, I think I saw some things it did better, not 100 percent sure ^^

Mate, trust me I run on an i5 3570k and a gt630, if I can run games and record on that you will have no trouble at all. Must have cost you quite a bit so enjoy it haha.

The Titan has 6gb of vram on a single die, It gives me flexibility to upgrade to 1440p/1600p monitor if i wish.

Just got myself an upgrade and the SSD primary makes the world of difference recording on to a secondary spindle hard drive, just adding in :)

Hey guys! I record with dxtory (720p, 30fps, x264 codec), but im not to familiar with what type of stress recording puts on a PC.
My setup is:
i7 3770k stock clocked
gtx titan
16gb corsair vengeance

Should i be concerned about anything?
Dude
first a 3770K , then a titan and then 16gb of ram
THAT'S OVERKILL! :D
You don't need to worry!

This brings to mind another question. I have Windows installed on a 240gb SSD, I have my games installed on a 2TB 7200rmp hdd. Now I have an external Sata adapter on my case (its really convinent) So if I record i just stick the hdd on the esata and record away. I have a spare 120gb ssd that i can record to, and also a spare 2tb hdd i can record to (100+mb/s) which is the better choice specifically for recording?

No such thing as overkill for editing :p[DOUBLEPOST=1371298921,1371298904][/DOUBLEPOST]

Just curious, how many monitors do you run?

I have a single 1080p monitor at the moment running at 120hz (samsung s27a950d) excellent monitor. (i know, overkill for a titan)

Recording to the spare SSD might not be a great idea, fills up very quickly. You might get about an hour if less of recording on Lagarith on it. I'm not too aware of the speed of external sata adapters, is it connected via USB? If so, it will be pretty slow compared to the internal..
Normally you should be able to get away with recording and playing of the same HD just fine, it works for me and I don't have an SSD for the OS..Maybe keep recording to the internal one you have your games on or use a HD speed tester on your external sata to get an idea of which is quicker ^^

It's an ESATA dock. Exactly the same speeds as internal, its just on the outside.
