How to promote your videos

I've Got It
The main problem for a new channel is getting views to start the ball moving. In this thread I'll be telling you how to properly advertise your videos.
Firstly please do not go on other YouTuber's channel and try advertise your channel/video, this is a big no no and will get the wrong impression on potential subscribers/viewers. It makes you look desperate for views.
Use forums such as this to gain attention to your channel/video but do not spam your videos as this will most likely get you banned from these forums. Instead interact with the community asking for improvements or even to show off something that others may find interesting. Forums such as yttalk and damn lag help a person improve their channel and help gain viewers and potentially subscribers.
Another tool is social media. Social media websites help a lot in gaining quick views. Websites like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit etc. With twitter you may want to add in relevant hashtags, people can search hastags and view content on these hashtags. Try using trending hashtags if possible. When you gain followers politely Direct messege them and ask them to subscribe to your channel, you could gain a few subscribers. Reddit is similar with forums where you need to interact with the community in order to gain viewers but if used properly you could gain drastic gains. Try posting in sub reddits with 1000-10000 subscribers in these sub Reddit as litll to a few people will see your posts in bigger sub reddits. One last webite to use is Google plus. Join communities and post your videos there, there are tonnes an tonnes of communities for you to join and you could gain subscribers.
One last thing is tag your videos appropriately!

Facebook is my most consistent, I find relevant pages and try to share directly with the page so that they re-share and then everybody who is a member can potentially see the link. I think my most successful Facebook share led to about 40k views on one video as a result of other pages re-sharing from the page that posted to their wall. I try to use the same approach on Twitter, it doesn't work so well though. My one and only successful Tweet led to about 170k views on the video that was shared. Most of the other time I can't even tell if the person sees the Tweet lol

My approach is different than a lot of other people's I see in here, I'm not popular enough on Facebook or Twitter to just post to my own pages, but other pages have millions of followers. The key to my approach is getting their attention and they do the leg work for me. It benefits both parties in most instants; their site gets more traffic, and my content gets the traffic. The trick is figuring out the mindset of the admins on these pages and send them something YOU KNOW they will like. The hard part is being able to judge your own videos without being partial. If you bore them with half a** content that they don't like, they'll likely ignore future messages.

I have it a lot easier than most people in here because I do dog videos, and those are very easy to share a lot of places. Today I tried an attempt to get a very popular military Facebook page's attention. I wrote up a very detailed email with pictures, video, and a link to a news article about our award for our guns. We'll see if they do anything with that! As usual if it works, I'll share some of my method!
 
Interesting, I personnally cannot manage to promote my videos x) It's a huge problem when you are a very little Youtuber
 
I don't have a twitter or Facebook or even an Reddit yet but i do have an google+ account(obviously). I never thought google+ helped. I guess i never gave it a chance but i don't know how it works oddly enough.

I have under 800 subs and do well at promoting, you don't have to be big to promote, you just have to have something people will want to watch. The way I look at it is if I saw my video on YouTube and it was someone else's, would I share with people I know? That's the type of stuff you need to make
