How Long Your Intro Should Be?

I'm just starting Vlogging on Youtube recently and I have around 10-12 seconds for my generic intro appearing on all vlogs at the beginning.

Some tell me that the intro should only be around 5 or 6 seconds. So what do you guys think? Is 5 or 6 seconds enough for your intro? I'd also love to check out your intro as well. Cheers

I think anything under 10 seconds should be fine. Preferably around 5-6. But it honestly depends on what type of intro if it's just showing a logo it's so annoying to have a long intro just flash it quick and your golden. But if your showing short clips of vlogs then you'll be fine. :)

well I just created my first intro so I am by no means an expert on this, but mine is only 2.5 seconds

I just watched your intro and it is a tad long but not too bad.

thank you for giving feedback. I am just afraid mine is too long which might cause some viewers to drop out. I watched your video about risky investment. You might want to add something at the beginning to catch viewer's attention so they might stay longer. For example: Do you know how bad a risk investment could affect your life? Then start from there to elaborate your topic instead of going straight to talk about the topic immediately. Just my thought!

Thank you for the advice. I will try to reduce it to 6 seconds maybe. My structure for vlog is: Teaser + Intro + Vlog. The teaser is different in each vlog but the intro remains the same. That's why I'm afraid viewers will find it boring if they have to watch it for 10s in every vlog. By the way, that cat mario game is insane hahaha

Now that I've actually counted the seconds in my head, 2 is too short. 5-7 is probably perfect.

That seems about right, but it really depends on your content. To me, the shorter the better. As a viewer, a long winded predictable intro is just plain annoying and waste of time after watching it for the first time. You can always change up the intros to keep it fresh though, which in that case, having a bit of a longer one could make sense.

Ideally 5 seconds I think, but NEVER more than 10 seconds. It's a good idea to have a "longer" and "shorter" version of the intro if you use a "Main videos-side videos" system, you use the longer for mains, shorter for side videos.

My YouTube manager told me to keep my intro at around 3 seconds. I had a 7 second intro and he told me that was too long.
