How Long is Your Outro?

I think it depends what you are using your outro for.

If it is just an end slate to brand your channel, then very short is fine.

If it has preview vids for other videos plus social media information etc then I think just make it as long as you like. If people don't want to watch to the very end then they can just click away easy enough. That's my policy anyway.

Our animated subscribe button ended up being 9 seconds long for no reason other than that's what I ended up making it. There's some variance, but because of that basic measure ours tend to be 9, 18, or 27 seconds long depending on how many times we copy that animation into the timeline. But - some things to keep in mind:

1) We're a multi show channel, so part of the end card's job is to give people time to figure out we have more than one show/video series. This is done through annotations and video clips, like most people do.
2) we *always* include content in the end card. Whether a call to action video, or behind the scenes, or whatever, the videos flow into the bumpers and those become part of the overall video. In some cases, this is even set up so that you *have* to watch into the annotated bumper to see the end of the main video. It's not just static links or video thumbnails.

I purchased StackTraxx CD's so that I could have different songs for use on YT. Each song has different prepared lengths. 15 seconds, 30, 60, and full length (around 3 minutes).

I decided to go with 30 second outro's with 4 different mini-movies as clickable annotations. 30 seconds may be long but when I have 4 mini movies, it gives the viewer more time to get a sample of each of the linked videos.

I try to keep it around 15 seconds, although I'm still fairly new to this whole intro outro thing, only just started implementing them yesterday but mine don't show anything videos at the end yet.

Usually it's an end slate that has the video ending in it with other video links, usually lasting about 10 seconds to kinda show everything there

I have a 15 second outro, and I don't use a intro. I use to use one but i find its better just to get straight to the video. I think if you use an intro some people will jsut exit your video.
