How do you use your education on youtube?

I did an animation degree in college.

I was always animating in flash before then, (shadow hates colours video) but the degree allowed me to learn the 3D animation (Sonics 20th vid, and the thieving magpies vid) I also made my own original series AS my final piece for examination! (lizard cops) most importantly it gave me a couple years out to focus on YouTube and I found I could almost make a job out of it.
my dissertation was something like "how to create a cartoon series without a budget or team" and it was all focused on YouTube.

not I love my original series though it's been on the backburner waiting for a reboot of sorts, the characters are very close to my heart and I'm happy I took the course :)

it's definitely helped me get better at animation and really allowed me to work on YouTube full time :3
That's amazing! I'm currently in college, I wanted to go for 3d animation (CGI) for years. I took a flash class, I learned after effects and cinema 4D by myself. Last semester I switched my major to film though, I realized that's what I ultimately wanted to do. I still enjoy animation, thank you for you comment!

haha soudns awesome! i learned cinema4D too! haven't met another C4D user since XD

I am currently a student and getting my Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in graphic design. I haven't used my degree to help with my channel yet. But I do think once I gain more knowledge about graphic design, I will probably use it to make my own banners/channel art. Maybe an outro for my videos too!

My degree in playing classical violin is not usefull to my gaming channel at all :giggle: But I guess maybe I could play some videogame sound tracks? :bounce:

As an aspiring Computer Scientist, I used what I learned from friends and professors including building computers, I built my gaming rig a few years ago, it's still going strong but I want to upgrade the GPU soon, and file directory navigation when it comes to installing and tinkering with mods for the games I Let's Play and the programs I use to record. Everything else, like making thumbnails and editing, I had to either figure out on my own or look up tutorials XD

I'm curious to see how many people went to college and are using their degree/knowledge to help improve their channel. Or if you are in high school, how you intend to use your major? Maybe your degree doesn't help, I want to hear about that as well. Thanks!

For me it's usually just the way I talk in my commentaries. I took a Speech class in college so I had to use better words and transitions. It also helped me get out of the habit of using the same words like "umm" or "you know". Also when I make my descriptions I usually find myself typing them as if I'm typing an essay. I use descriptive words and try to be as in depth as possible. It just makes the description that much better despite the fact that no one really reads them haha. Overall, it's just helped my English a whole lot more and has helped my channel look a bit more professional.

I got a masters in multimedia tech and mass. Communication about 15 years ago. Of course then there was no YouTube but we had classes that talked about it in theory, we often wrote papers about what media would be like in 2010, 2020, 2030 as well as digital audio and video editing and web design, as well as marketing and positioning. I drafted a project once that looks like google classroom and E readers today, but they didn't exist then. In 2000, to hold a digital camera (which was actually digital tape) was amazing and to not edit head to head (linear) was awesome.

When I graduated I moved on to be a sports camera man, then, news director and then a production consultant. I also taught a few media classes starting in 2013 and tell the kids(18-22) of what the world was like when they were born with no internet! Oh the shock and tears!

Funny that a masters program then is now what a 12 year old could do now, with the right motivation[DOUBLEPOST=1472684721,1472684478][/DOUBLEPOST]
I graduated from trucking school in March of 2015. Man that would be a terrible channel if I used that knowledge to make my videos.
No! Someone shown me a popular channel from England about a truck driver that swears about traffic and stupid drivers. It's a great idea

I studied music in university and one of my channels is based on the music I write and how to write music/play guitar/etc. a lot of the things I learned in college I have used on my channel.
