How accessible are your videos?

I honestly don't remember. But most probably around July. I have 7 currently with custom CC, I only have 5 that I use transcript that I uploaded which started in August. Anything before, I just cut and pasted what writeup I had and let YouTube adjust the timing for me and then I'd manually check the timing again.

I only did it because people said it improves SEO because keywords bla bla. That spike you see, when I checked the source on that day, most views came from reddit. There was no significant change in suggested or even search views on that day.

So I don't know.
 
Ok...Well I'm convinced. I added CC. A video that has been getting 3-4 views per hours is now at 14 for the current hour. Thanks for the tip!
 
I have been adding subtitles to some my videos, currently in English but I hope I can add different languages in the future since there are countries where people don't speak English and I'm not sure if the translate captions tool translates it correctly lol

According to ReelSeo.com, there are Youtube SEO benefits to having the subtitles translated and the files uploaded to the video. That article was written before the advent of the in-player translator tool though, but I would imagine that if it had SEO benefits then it would still have some now. I'm going to upload a tutorial video later showing how to easily translate a subtitle file into different languages and reupload (to one of my tutorial channels).
 
I use closed captions since the beginning partly in up to five languages. So far I didn't have a breakthrough ...

Well, if you had them from the very beginning there wouldn't necessarily be a breakthrough. It would likely constitute roughly 10-15% of your views from the beginning, just like OP (his 1200 views from subtitles and CC represent approximately 10% of his overall daily views according to him. On my videos with subtitles, I see similar numbers).

EDIT: Looking at the numbers again, I get nowhere near 10% of my total views from Subtitles and CC. I don't know what I was looking at the other night. I must be sleep deprived. I'll have to look at the data again.

Congrats on the massive success! I'm glad to hear that that is something that can work :) This is something that I've wanted to do but never had the time for, unfortunately. Hopefully I can soon.

Though I added my own subtitles to two of my older videos some odd months ago, how would I see how impactful that was?

Analytics>Views, then click on the subtitles and CC box, and then the language in blue.[DOUBLEPOST=1442009241,1442009220][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes, my views have increased about 10-15% daily since I put on subtitles and CC.
