Oh okay, I didn't catch that. Depending on your overall number of daily views then it's possible that the subs could have caused a 1200 view increase. What percentage of your overall daily views does 1200 represent?
 
Google has a translation tool to translate videos into different languages. I was looking into it a few weeks ago as a means of cracking the suggested video sections of non English videos, also via subtitles. I was going to make a post about it but got sidetracked and forgot about it. I've already had videos that rank highly for foreign search terms because I included the term in the title avd/or tags, so I think translating subtitles manually might be worth looking into.
 
This is a pretty neat observation. I think it may have some effect on suggested videos and searches. Doing this on my channel would be fairly easy, and I can have subtitles for 100's of languages lol.
 
I added subtitles to my video through youtube but then they were automatically on for all my videos; I couldn't figure out how to stop that so I turned it off.
 
I don't have any files to upload; if anything I'd like to use the feature to type them as the video plays along side. But if I turn them on I'd want to make sure they don't play automatically.I'll look at adding them again and see if I can get them to work how I'd like.

So first thing you wanna do is go to the video you want subtitles for, go to edit, and then Subtitles and CC.

There will be a sign with English [Automatic] - This is the auto translated one - so click it, under the actions menu click "unpublish" and then hit the exit button
So now your video has no subtitles.

Now to add your own subtitles, click "Add new subtitles or CC" and choose your language. It gives you 3 options, you want transcribe and autosync.
What you do is use the box to type out all of the spoken words in your videos. Once your done, click "set timings" and YouTube will automatically match your written script to the spoken words., and it will take a few minutes. Once that's done click the "English" subtitle box and it will bring you into the synced subtitles, and click publish and you're good to go :)
