We usually make the boredom test. When the movie is almost ready I give it to my wife to watch it. Her only task is to click (make a mark) on the time track any time she feels bored. After that I just cut off all the marked sections.
Our audience lately is more mature but I think the test should work for kids targeted movies also.
Some very good tips, thanks guys!Is there any way you can leverage your gaming audience to get a start? A few linked annotations shouldn't turn off many viewers and it would raise awareness. Some kids who watch gaming videos might be quite young or have siblings who would be interested.
Another tactic is to set a small budget for an Adwords promotion. It can't hurt.
I'll be uploading our first video in the next hour or so. Even if it doesn't get many/any views, the kids are enjoying the process so that's what matters
