Having Confidence in your Channel - Do you?

I can probably talk about my YouTube channel better than I can talk about anything else, but of course for a schoolboy, it's still a hobby. I get the impression that most YouTubers would love to be full time but need the money from their job.

I've had occasions to talk about my YT Channel to IRL friends, and I did. Most of them looked interested, some because they have similar interests to mine, others because they don't really know much about Youtube and how videos are made so they get curious.

I can say I'm confident when talking about my channel because I love what I do with it, no matter the number of views or subscribers. Also, some friends were genuinely impressed I had 3,000 subscribers, which is a plus. I'm also really grateful for that, noticing that people like the things I do is always heartwarming to me.

I'm serious about my channel. I am serious about my growth and someday having a million subscribers.

When people ask me in public what I do, I used to sigh and say Insurance (my irl job) but now I smile with confidence and say "I'm a content creator on YouTube." Some people are taken aback and instantly have questions and become very interested. My boss at my normal job knows about my channel, my parents do, my friends do...I make it known because I don't want to allow myself to get cold feet or lose momentum. I feel like if you are serious about your channel, you should be proud and declare you're a youtuber, whether you have 1,000 subs or 1 million. (Aside from those of you who prefer to keep it secret, which is your thing and totally fine). But for me...having this confidence makes my dreams seem even more real and I've even begun to get sponsorships and free items/deals.

So I guess the basis of this is...have any of you had the joy of this experience and going 'real world' with talking about your channel and your serious passion?
I love your outlook on being a proud youtuber but unfortunately i'm not yet comfortable showing family and friends yet lol , but with your mentally you'll definitely get far and you're already getting sponsorships already that's insane . keep it up![DOUBLEPOST=1451261932,1451261841][/DOUBLEPOST]
I had a VLOG channel before which I was not really confident because my ideas were cool but somehow annoying and so I switched to gaming channel and I'm much more confident about it now. I can show my cousins proudly that THIS GAMING CHANNEL IS MINE and They appreciate it :)
I was thinking about doing a vlog channel once but i kinda lean towards gaming more , i am definitely very proud of my channel but not quite yet comfortable showing it to family and friends yet lol

Meh, being a hardcore gamer is not socially acceptable. Still, I do share my channel with my friends who wouldn't take it really weirdly. I guess my name is a detractor though.
