Google Plus Commenting on YouTube - ALL G+ COMMENTS POSTS HERE

Ridiculous, Google Plus is terrible. It is literally the worst thing that has ever happened to Youtube. I'm not changing my channel, I just won't comment anymore.

EXACTLY! and a lot of people are gonna go that route.[DOUBLEPOST=1383802758,1383802652][/DOUBLEPOST]
They are just so butthurt that facebook were first to market and have the social networking site that everyone likes and wants to use.

I have no issues if Google want to try to compete by launching G+, but forcing people to sign up to it so that they can comment on a totally unrelated (other than the ownership) video hosting site is verging on unfair competition and a surefire way to p**s off your users.

It's absolutely terrible in terms of PR. Everyone will forever associate G+ with backhanded methods for getting people to sign up to a terribad social networking site that no-one needed in the first place.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Everyone's complaining about the negatives, and I agree it's kinda clunky and there are drawbacks. However, there are a few changes that I think actually make it worth it.

  1. The automatic spam filter actually works now - Before comments were rarely flagged as spam even if it was flagged by users. This meant that you had to constantly watch your videos for spam comments and delete them yourself. However, looking through the hidden comments now, YouTube seems to get them all. I even had a notification for a spam comment just a couple minutes ago, but when I went to delete it, it was already hidden as spam!

  2. Blacklisted Words - You can now blacklist your own list of words. I think this is great for people who don't want profanity in their comments. I can imagine it has tons of more applications that are not very obvious as well.

  3. Free Promotion from Sharing - By default, when you make a comment, there is a box checked that says "also share on Google+". This means that most of the time when someone comments on your video, anyone who follows them on Google+ will also see the comment and your video.

  4. You can Edit your Comments - This one is pretty self explanatory.

I don't have issues with changes to YT comments per se. What I do have issue with is Google trying to use the comments update as a pretext of why people need to sign up to Google+

Out of your list, numbers 1,2 and 4 could have been done without any need for G+ at all.

And number 3 is pretty lol. Promotion to what / who? The blackhole that is G+? The vast majority of people who signed up for G+ did so because Google forced them to in order for them to carry on using YT. Those people aren't loading up their browsers and going directly to their G+ pages to see what's trending or to connect with their friends. They go to fb for that.

#3 seems like the most beneficial. I've already seen somebody share a video, tag friends, and hashtag it. With the right people a video can spread like wildfire.

But the comments I make aren't shared to the YouTube feed. Meaning that now it's restricted to G+ which isn't so good considering not every viewer will have G+, infact only the viewers who intend to comment will have G+, the rest who just watch channels won't see it. This also means if I want my viewers to see what I'm commenting on via the YouTube feed they can't. As Udders said, they shouldn't have forced this at all. I just hope they fix the little issues fast. The only advantage I see to G+ so far that isn't the obvious, is that small channels don't have to deal with waves of notifactions in the 1 spot xD

This is also a very good point. Most of the viewers who do sign up to G+ will only do it just to be able to comment, so that cuts the sharing chances down even more. I don't even check my G+, why should I expect my viewers to? lol

Honestly if anything that will just make Google block people using adblock from using youtube, So that will just ruin it for those of you that use it.
It will still hurt Google in the pocketbooks and send them a message that we won't be forced into signing up for things we don't want, which is the goal.

Google makes their money off of ads being served, not the number of comments. If you don't want to participate, then so be it.
