That's just YouTube though. The key demo for everyone is that 13-17 female group. Grace Helbig and Jenna Marbles have mentioned this as well.

I think a lot of the imbalance comes from the interactivity of the audience, rather than a lack of female YouTubers. Grace and Jenna are successful because the can occupy the "older sister" role, not because the male demographic is watching them.

Of course, I always get scared commenting about this sort of stuff. I don't want to be a chauvinist or a white knight, or anything. I would agree with other commenters on here though that content is key - people who watch you just to stare at you don't become fans.

Do you really think having p**n and hot girls is really going to stop any man from rape? Most men who have rapped woman, started with the hot girl and pron. that did not stop them. A man who rapes a woman is doing it for control while getting his sexual pleasure. No amount of hot girl who pron is going to stop or cut that down...

On topic, yes if a girl put image of herself up she will get more views, but not every girl on that wagon, there a lot's of girls that don't do that because they want their content view for the content and not them. sadly them girls get over looked...

But hey, I've seen many men gamer put images of girls on their videos thumbnails to get views, what shock the men must get when they find out it's a man channel...

When I look through some comments on youtube, even if they lack humor, whit, ect... if they are written by a cute/hot girl, it's all thumbs up.

I notice girls getting tons of views from content that is completely sub-par. By no means BAD, but you wouldn't think it would be taking in this much attention. Even if the content is terrible, they just upload videos of themselves dressed in a somewhat.... "open" manner, they still make money off of guys simply clicking it because they find them hot.

A video that infuriated me (Cannot find it now) was a video of this girl going "And why do you like my videos!!!??, is it because I'm funny, or awesome, or, ect, ect". As she is saying this, some dude, out of the frame, is pushing her boobs up and down.

I know people found it funny, but it make me think "Yeah, people are out there busting their asses to make videos, to show off their talent and find followers. Yet just because of this talentless, annoying, obnoxious, and trashy girl's genetics, she takes in millions of views for dressing like a **** and has zero f*****g talent."

Now as I said before, by NO MEANS am I picking on girls.

But really, is it easier for girls to start youtube channels if they're attractive?

The way this world is set up it is easier for PEOPLE who are considered attractive in almost any field. Men or women. However, it doesn't mean others can't succeed, they just had better be very talented, tremendously innovative, funny, hard worker, or have something extra special about them which could be some like kick a** listening skills, or whatever. That's just the bottom line and I bet you knew that before you even typed all that out. I've seen guy vloggers that are really, really handsome and are a complete bore to listen to with thousands of subs so that attractive thing works both ways.
