Extremely camera shy?

I am incredibly shy in person, however when I am in front of a camera then I dont seem to have any problems. The only thing I would suggest is remember that you are the only one watching yourself. Have confidence because people like to see you have energy in a youtube video.
I usually try to imagine talking to someone else instead of my camera, that tends to work for me. I guess practice makes perfect!

PS. You are lucky not to have any problems talking into a camera!

I really want to start making some music vlogs to show how I make individual tracks. I also used to have a gaming channel and when I first started I had the same predicament as you. Just keep at it and it will come in time!

I see you got a lot of replies, but I'll still post :) I also struggle with making multiple takes because I feel uncomfortable/shy in front of a camera, but there is another good thing about it - not only you're going to get used to also watch yourself while editing, but you can also cut out the goofies parts and make a bloopers special video :) I love those, people love them too :D Just a positive way of looking at your own shyness. ;) Keep on doing what you like, you'll get better!

I am SO camera shy. I still struggle to make eye contact with the camera in my videos which is so important. But even in the short amount of time I've been filming I've noticed myself slowly getting better. I think it just takes time and practice to be more relaxed.

I'm getting a little better at it now but I'm also pretty camera shy. Have to redo a bunch of lines during my intros and outros all the time. During the bulk of my episodes I just have to pray to god I don't screw up to bad and focus on improving.

yeah of course i think everyone has i definitely had it when i started making vids on my old channel in high school but anything with time and effort becomes easier

My first ever video 3 months ago clearly shows how nervous and camera shy I was. but now it's just second nature really

Ok, here are some tips to maybe try. Make some videos in your room. Ones that you know you aren't going to post. Act like a fool, act crazy, act serious, act like you, just be a bunch of different personalities. I bet you will do all these things just fine if you know you aren't going to post it for anyone to see. You will probably be able to talk to the camera like you are taking to your friend. For some reason I think people tense up knowing that other people are going to see it.

But we have a great advantage. No one is actually watching while we record.. No one is judging what your doing until you post it and by that time we should have approved everything we put on that video. Don't worry about what people think. Everyone else out there is just another person no better then you. You should be making video's because you want to. Because it makes you happy. The only way your video will make you happy is if you fully go in. Don't hold back! My wife always tell me after watching some of our videos, I have no shame. She is completely right. If I had shame, I would always look at my videos and regret not giving it 100%. To me every video would be lacking if I didn't go for it.

So best word of advice, give it 100%. Go all in. Don't worry about what other people think but at least give them 100%. And most of those people judging would probably never be able to do what you do.
