Do Looks Sell?

I think personality surpasses looks. I know some GORGEOUS women and HANDSOME men who can't pass 10 subs.
The main thing is INTELLIGENCE and added value. That is what will help you grow and evolve as a youtuber, everything else is just a bonus.

Breasts don't help, trust me lol If it did I'd be bigger than Pewdiepie right now. Not to mention my audience is 92% women so, yeah, that's not why they watch me.

My subs watch me because I love them, they know it, feel it and love me as well. I provide quality information, tips, tricks and more. Some people think I have an awesome personality, some think I'm beautiful, while some would agree with both but the reason why people subscribe and stay? Is because of the value I offer, simple.

to sum it up:

Value, Intelligence, Passion, and Love for your audience OE (over everything)

I guess I should specify: breast exposure helps gain certain audiences. They might not be listening to you though. This is shown with the success of a several twitch channels. Anyway, it was just a throwaway joke for yuks. Not something I'm ready to defend all night! Congrats on your success. I hope I can one day have all of your subscribers.
 
That was probably my eventual downfall. I showed my face on camera a lot, got a lot of hate on it for being ugly. I was freakish ugly, but obviously not good looking enough that I would get a slightly more than occasional insult from someone reminding me.

Tried another run without the camera and never managed to recover. Had I done it the first time, I think I would've probably gotten further than I did.

I'm not agreeing with your assessment of your looks...but if you feel that way then make it your schtick. I've found that when I make fun of myself...people view me as more genuine.
 
It definitey helps to be attractive. All the big YouTubers are attractive. The good news is, beauty is subjective!! There will always be someone who thinks you're attractive, whether its in the traditional sense or not.
I'm fairly certain I would be more popular if I fit a certain stereotyped look, but thats ok that I look the way I do. I will still gain subscribers who don't care what I look like, or who will think I like just fine :)
 
I feel like looks get views, but personality gets subs. People originally might click on your video due to your looks, but they won't subscribe unless they find your personality and content engaging and worthwhile.

To some extent it does, but personality trumps in the end. Not all that make it big on youtube look like they should be on the cover of GQ. However, like in all things media, if you have the looks, people will flock to you. That being said, I never watch anyone on the basis that just attractive alone. That would be just too boring and I can't stand boring.
 
Unfortunately Yes looks do pay, but good looks can't hide an ugly personality and it all comes out in the end and but some channels do great from personality much like shay carl and his family. He was a big bloke with a lovely wife and family, but his looks didn't sell his persona and personality did.
 
Mix of good looks/good personality is best, but yeah most of the accounts I'm subscribed to are because they're good looking
