Do Looks Sell?

If that's the case then I would show my face more often(i'm a pretty handsome guy lol). But It Depends because there's big youtuber with millions of subs that don't have the looks or not attractive, and vice versa. Having a Personality on youtube is more important because nobody's perfect an looks shouldn't be a reason to not like a person's channel

For sure. YouTube reminds me a ton of the acting grind, where a pretty headshot most certainly helps. Harsh fact of life really, especially in entertainment.

Which is why I hide behind sexy cartoon characters instead. :up2: :p

I only mean that in terms of "sell" though. There's always outliers. People whose "look" don't really have anything to do with their channel, or someone who may not be considered conventionally "attractive" establishing their look as part of a character.

Overall though, for me personally, it's the content someone makes that makes me stick around/subscribe no matter how they look. Heck, it's not like I'm going to date them.

yup exactly my point. looks have a certain edge...to be honest though sssniper has that many subs bc of her looks. But when you look at some1 like jenna marbles shes cute, but her personality and wits is off the chart - shes just awesome - and most of her followers are women.

without a doubt women gamer get subscribers pretty fast (oh ur hot, let me sub) - but that only gets them so far. if you have no personality, you are not going to engage your audience and they wont watch your entire content. they just "click bc you are attractive" then gone. Which actually harms your channel (kind of like sub 4 sub)

in the long run personality and viewer engagement wins vs attractiveness. I mean I am a guy, I do it. I see an attractive women, I click. But if she has no personality, im gone within a few seconds. But if I come across someone like jennamarbles - I stay engage because not of her looks, but because she is really good at what she does and knows how to engage and capture you. Pewdiepie does the same thing. Once you click, you cant get off that video.

I actually think that if someone looks extremely pretty, of course, they get a lot of attention. At the same time, if someone looks "different," or what some people define as "ugly," they also get a lot of attention. The only difference is one is positive and one is negative.

Yeah, looks sell, in the sense that it's easier to be noticed, that it's pretty much human nature to pick the attractive options over the not-attractive options if there's hardly anything else at play yet. If you're attractive, it's easier for you. If you're not, you need to work harder at other things to make the stuff you do more noticable and worth the watch.

I personally wouldn't stick around long if a goodlooking person turned out to be boring or a sh*tty human being though.

probably only matters if your a vlogger or a makeup/beauty channel. but personality will always trump it.

Its 90% personality, 10% looks man you could be butt f$&king ugly, if you can make someone laugh. they will like you it's been like this from the beginning of time XD
