DELETING AFTER UPLOAD?

I keep everything. You never know when you might need them. what if YouTube disappeared tomorrow? What would that mean to you? If you're not keeping you're files, you have to work under the assumption that you no longer own them or have access to them.

The best thing to do would be to buy an external hard drive. It doesn't need to be an SSD; a plain old mechanical HDD will do. They're so cheap now and you can get multi terabyte ones for dollars. Archive them off to your external drive and forget. For really important files, you might also want to consider doubling up with something like Dropbox too.

Finally, keeping your files archives will not slow down your computer. Moving them around, deleting them, editing them, adding to them; all of that has the potential to slow things down over time. But leaving them all in one place and forgetting about it is all good.

My rendered files aren't very large so I keep them, for now anyways. I delete my unedited footage because I really don't need it afterward.

Do you ever go back and delete your old videos once you've figured out your niche and what you like for your channel?

Personally I think it's good to go back and see how far you've come since you started out. I am constantly thinking of new things I could do to improve my channel, but I love watching my first videos just so I can see the differences.

What I like about some of my favourite YouTubers is that I can go back a couple of years and see where it all began for them, gives me the confidence that improvement will come with time.

Not I, I have a small goal of proving that you can improve yourself and do better with practice because I feel like too many people these day's just give up because their position in life or lack of natural talent. So I want those videos that are god awful to be there to be found in the future.

I deleted most of my old videos from my VLOG channel because I think they sucked lol. But I am confident with my newer content.

Nope. I never have deleted videos from my old account or new account. My thinking is that a new viewer may wanna watch my old content to see what I do and how I got to where I am today.

Plus new or returning viewers may wanna watch my old videos / episodes to catch up on storylines. ( I'm an acter and have a show and run storylines.) So keeping old videos Is really helpful.

On my old channel the second video I ever made is one of my most viewed videos and that's out of over 300 videos I made on that channel.
