Computer Restarts When Playing Games

The idea behind this is to test weather its heat impacting it, so if its really horrible pick one or two options and turn it up to medium, but preferably you play the way you usually play and to see if it crashes around two hours, keep playing it for about 3 hours or so(you might have to do this test when you are in a gaming mood) since there is no other way to test weather the fans fix the issue or not
If heat isnt the issue then what else could it be?

If it isn't the heat than its more of trial and error, it could be a defective part, it could be something to do with the particular software you are using, or it might be a power issue, speaking of power did you overclock your CPU or GPU?

Not my cpu but I have the EVGA GTX 670 2gb FTW Edition which to my knowledge is factory overclocked, but I haven't messed with it since then.

When ever you have the opportunity run the heat test as described, but if you want to play right now on max setting then go into afterburner and under-clock your card about -100 MHz for core, and about -50 MHz for the memory and run the game on regular settings you play to see if the factory overclock may be the culprit.

Ok I will go underclock right now and then try to play max payne and see if it overheats after awhile[DOUBLEPOST=1373098824,1373096010][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well I just finished Max Payne 3 and had the GFX card underclocked and it didn't seem to make any difference Temp wise or usage wise, I have a good feeling though that it probably would have overheated eventually, anyway it goes I have a feeling that the factory OC might not be our problem.. Thanks for all your help so far by the way too. Glad someone is actually trying to take some time to help me :)

No problem, and did it crash, or did you not play long enough for it to crash?, because the power supply heats up as well but you cant really monitor those temperatures( i beleive your CPU temps are perfect, your GPU might be overheating at some point and that will be tested by the full fan test), so by under clocking you are also using less power and creating less heat in the power supply which still could be the cause of the crashes.

I didn't play long enough for it to crash, and yea I will do the full fan test in a little bit when I am really in the gaming mood. I don't think 70c is too hot for a GFX card, it used to run at like 85c and that was a problem but I don't see 70c being too bad, what temps does your card usually reach?

Here are my temps for my hotter card after playing BF3 on Ultra for 5 Min

I see you use EVGA Precision X, I was thinking about switching to that software but I have just been used to afterburner haha. I have my fan speed on 75 s0 if I bumped it up to 80 it would probably get down to 65c but I doubt it would drop a whole 10 down to 60. I might go get precision and play BF3 on ultra and record my results..

I use automatic fan curve to deal with temperature with that fan curve, it is a bit noisy due to one of my 670's having the stock fan, but it keeps it very cool, however one thing about my set up is that i have 4 case fans, and two more fans on my Hyper Evo 212, so i have alot of airflow in my case, if it is heat that is causing your problems then my solution would have been to buy one or two more case fans and set them on full blast to have more air flows since 2 fans that you have right now might not be getting the job done well enough
