Computer Restarts When Playing Games

Hello, it has been a little while since I updated this post, sorry about that. Anyways, I was playing far cry 3 earlier and about an hour in my pc restarted but when it restarts it can't power itself back on, it tries but just shuts right back down again. I am going to let it cool down for a couple minutes then test out the fan thing for a good 2 hours and see what happens

EDIT: It says the highest I can put the fans is 80 and I usually have 75 so i am not sure how big of a difference this will make but I will give it a shot and go play for far cry for a couple of hours and see what happens.

EDIT 2: Well since my Far Cry 3 restarted right when I earned an achievement that game is now messed up so I am just going to play Max Payne since it is the original game I had problems with
I think it might be your power supply overheating, any chance you have a different power supply you can test out?

Do you have any friends that have power supplies they can lend you for testing?, If i was doing that on my computer i would open up the case and with a flash light look closely at the power supply to see if there is anything out of ordinary, wierd smell(Burning like) or red components(very hot). If i saw or smelled something wrong i would get a new power supply, but before that i would look at your power strip to see if its not overloaded with too many things drawing power, also try plugging your computer into a different power strip if available just to rule it out.

Unfortunately I don't have any that could lend me a power supply :( I only have two things plugged into my outlet which is my monitor and my computer so I doubt that is the problem. I only have one wall outlet near my pc so I can really only plug it into that. I currently have this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= Do you think I should upgrade to a 750w?

I think you just got a bad unit, or it wore down with time, and if you ever plan on doing SLI on your card you would be safe with 750W, also i would suggest going for Corsair CX750, that is what i have and it runs two gtx 670's in SLI with no problems as well as 6 fans, and OC'd CPU. Here is what im talking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139040

Alrighty then, I will look into buying a new PSU sometime soon when I can get some cash. For now I am just going to stick to some less demanding games which I still have a ton of those to play so I will be fine for the time being :)

Either that or take breaks when you play to let it cool down, so play for like half an hour and take a break for about 10 min, that way you can fix the crashes in the demanding games
