Wow thats awesome! so basically youtube is going to turn into a social media site like facebook, and instagram! Really gotta work on my social media game leading up to this!

That doesn't get rid of the need for multiple channels. I still need different channels because my content is completely different. Hopefully they make it easy to use and easy to find. Perhaps have the latest post title show when you move your mouse over their title icon.

If you had multiple channels you could promote them using the community tab by pasting a link to a video on say a more popular channel that goes back to another channel of yours.
