Committed Schedules - YouTube Channels

I keep a schedule for my gaming channel, I however don't emphasize it, so I don't think my audience even knows it exists...lol. It's more of a way for me to keep track of things. I think it's more important for bigger channels to maintain a schedule.

Would you guys choose not to bother doing a channel if you couldnt have a schedule or would you still go for it? That is a choice I am looking at here either going for it and doing videos when I can and releasing them when I can or just not bothering at all because of that :D

I think so long as you at least upload once a week you'll be fine. I prefer people who build anticipation and don't flood viewers with videos!

I do not think having a schedule is a necessity - you can do a YouTube channel without it :) You can always begin scheduling things when you feel you can manage ^^

If this is something you truly want to do, then don't worry about a schedule. Create the content you want and have fun with it. As you get more and more into the rhythm of creating content you can set your own schedule and the way you want to do things. Always just be sure to do the video the way you want to do them and not let others dictate you on how to run your channel :)

If you can't do it regularly, why don't you aim for one video a week? Then if the opportunity ever arises you can switch up to 2 videos a week etc. :)

Thanks guys :)

I do want to do it but theres times where I will record something and not get a chance to edit it until a week or two later and end up busy with other things and not get around to it and I end up working on other projects and I have a feeling that I will almost definitely neglect any new channel I make if I make it at this time where there are long gaps between videos and I can imagine any audience I get not sticking around for too long because of it. All these thoughts keep me back from starting it, I have a video on computer that I made in Summer last year that I havent released because I am worried about not being able to deliver regularly enough :D

I've never had a schedule set for my channel because of the type of content I create. What I mean is that a schedule isn't a must - it might be helpful yeah, but you can still have a channel without one so in my opinion you should give it a go. ;) And who knows, maybe in the future you'll be able to maintain a certain schedule when the circumstances are different. :)

I can imagine if I go ahead with it being once a month perhaps :D

Thanks Peter, it certainly is possible where in the future I could maintain one.

Oh wow, once a month? You'd have to be making some hardcore amazing stuff then. But you do have a huge cult following from YTT that will be loyal, so no real worries.

Haha once a month might be a little exaggerated but maybe once every two to three weeks is what I can imagine doing without a proper schedule. I am unsure if many people here would be interested in the stuff I would like to do, I want to do creative videos that make you think basically and more cinematic type videos perhaps with some vlogging in between every now and then, thats where my heart lies the most and I think making that sort of content I would certainly have fun :D

In my opinion having a basic schedule (for example uploading once a week or so) is important , so the viewers know when to expect a video. All the other stuff you upload counts as a bonus.
For example, for my VGP show I'd like to have at least two canonical episodes (review-retrospective) twice a month, the 1st and the 15th of every month. Other stuff, like "Beta Crawling" or "Conso vs *friend name*" are optional, they can be counted as "bonus content" and I will upload them when I have them ready or I want to.

A schedule will give viewers the impression that they can expect more content, boosting subscriptions and loyal viewers who tune in. It works especially well if you're doing long series of similar videos.

Myself is a bad example, as my schedule is currently loose as rubber strings. Views are easier to maintain when constantly uploading new stuff on a regular basis.
