Committed Schedules - YouTube Channels

Michael

I Love YTtalk
Hey guys,

I have been thinking about this recently as I want to launch my own channel soon enough where I post videos but I am uncertain about being able to stick to a proper schedule. Is it worth making a new channel if you are unsure if you are going to be able to keep to a particular schedule, is it worth releasing videos just every so often and as and when you have something new to release? What are your thoughts on this? Do you need to be 100% committed to a schedule or even need one at all?

I have always held back because I am scared of people expecting a proper schedule and letting them down. What would you do in my situation?

Cheers :)

I think a schedule is very important in keeping viewers wanting to come back. It gives the viewer a set time to comeback or to prepare for the next video you release. I look at it kind of like watching something on the TV, I know every week certain programs I enjoy will be coming on so I make sure to either DVR it or be sitting there ready to watch.

I try to upload our videos between 2PM and 3PM cst.

I got a schedule for my channel, but I do not tell my viewers :)
My schedule is just to create one video for every day at a specific time, except in the weekend - what I tell my viewers are just "new videos every week," so even if I am very stressed out in a period, I can always make one video, and still keep my promise :b

The schedule thing is more for myself :)

Would you guys choose not to bother doing a channel if you couldnt have a schedule or would you still go for it? That is a choice I am looking at here either going for it and doing videos when I can and releasing them when I can or just not bothering at all because of that :D

I honestly think it's good to keep a schedule, but you shouldn't have to stick to it if you're doing it for fun.

I do not think having a schedule is a necessity - you can do a YouTube channel without it :) You can always begin scheduling things when you feel you can manage ^^

If this is something you truly want to do, then don't worry about a schedule. Create the content you want and have fun with it. As you get more and more into the rhythm of creating content you can set your own schedule and the way you want to do things. Always just be sure to do the video the way you want to do them and not let others dictate you on how to run your channel :)

If you can't do it regularly, why don't you aim for one video a week? Then if the opportunity ever arises you can switch up to 2 videos a week etc. :)
