You are too naive. Do you think that Rihanna, Katty Perry or Taylor Swift videos will not be monetized for sexual content or offensive language?

They only do that for normal people....

These "new" guidelines are from last year or older:

web.archive. org/web/20150605143801/ https: //support.google.com/youtube/answer/6162278[DOUBLEPOST=1472761680,1472761632][/DOUBLEPOST]

Youtube is privately owned. There's no censorship.

Yea, I know. That's why I said it's not. Not sure what privately owned businesses have to do with it. Also, the guidelines aren't new, but the implementation process has definitely been different the past 48 hours (along with notification changes). There's no denying that.

I hate how vague they are with all this stuff. Im not personally worried about demonetization because my channel is about as unoffensive as it gets but I dont feel that people who do curse or talk about contravention topics should get screwed over like this. Its one thing if its full on adult material but who knows where the line will be drawn.

What if Youtube, or more precisely Google, decided that something is now offensive that never was and suddenly people are silenced, or at least penalized for that speech. I just need to know more specifics.

I think it's good for youtube people. Because youtube CPM between 2013 and 2016 was divided by 10. Because there are more and more youtube users and spammers like "breast feeding". Advertising companies don"t want to invest on youtube but directly with people influencers on youtube. Youtube is losing money with this new schema because they can't take 45% of the money.

This is a terrible idea. This will cause people to bail from YouTube. As soon as another company comes with less strict guidelines, Youtubers big and small will move over there. These new guidelines are too vague and they seem only to be put in place to punish certain people. If they followed their own rules 75% of the Vevo music videos would have to be demonetized. I haven't checked, but I'm guessing they're all fine.

I think it is a good thing. It forces people to clean up their act or become a starving artist. There are plenty of good channels with no swearing / controversial subjects that are waiting to take their place. YouTube has to adapt to keep their money flowing, and that means conforming to advertising guidelines. Without that advertizer money? No YouTube. What would you rather have? Crying DeFranco or your entire channel gone because YouTube ceases to exist?

On point right here. I have said a few times I swear in my videos. Not a lot. But sometimes it come out. When I asked myself if I could still produce the same content without profanity it was an easy yes. Incredibly easy....

I actually agree. I already said it previously, but take a look at DeFranco's channel, his latest videos all look to be clickbait instigating in other people's business, and he was making money off that. His video about de-monetization is being monetized lol And he's not the only one, there are channels that do the exact same thing or use perverted fetishes to make money off views, too, the big goal seems to be to get rid of CLICKBAIT.
