Because it's a rule on YouTube you also have to follow which ties in to what we are discussing. But dude Leafy is not carrying on as normal. He went full on damage control and deleted some of his videos. He was backpedaling like crazy on the things he has said. He was aware of what was coming down and you can bet he is not going on like nothing happened. I don't really have much else to say on it. We are required on anything on the internet to sign terms of service. If we can't follow rules we face consequences for that. What other answer is there really?

in your own description on that video "I am discussing the absolute horrible behavior by top YouTube talents such as leafyishere, scarce, FouseyTube, and Keemstar" i am sure that being negative is breaking the ToS. AKA your not following the rules YOU signed up to

If they took monetization off that video I would understand. Because that is their rules. Actually I have videos I say f**k in from time to time. I plan to clean that up going forward. I was not aware of the rules to be honest. But ignorance is no excuse and I will remove the language now. I can still entertain without it. So you do have a point there but they can have the monetization on that if they decided I didn't follow there rules. Adapt or fall. That's how I live my life.

Serious question. I haven't watched it just yet so I am a bit ignorant to exactly what is going on. But does freedom of speech apply to YouTube's platform? If they created it and tell you that you can use it but you have to follow their rules, that's kinda how it goes right? That's my thought process anyway. I was listening to a Scarce video on the way to work yesterday and I turned it off right away when he said he thinks it is bull s**t and YouTubers should be able to say whatever they want. I really disagree with this. Some of these channels just attack other people and have millions of subscribers. I really think they have a responsibility to watch what they say in those cases. Their platform is way to big to just spout off whatever they want.

If he is a YouTube Partner that means he signed a contract with YouTube and YouTube advertisers. If he has problem with it he always can leave the program and continue to upload his movies. It is a no-brainer.
I really see no censorship here just decreased profits.

It's not restricting freedom of speech because they still allow the video to be shown. You just won't be able to monetize the content anymore. Which I think is fair. If you can't get a point across without swearing all the time then you got issues. This is a move to motivate channels to clean up their speech. The funny thing is that all my videos in the past had liberal swearing. And then I just quit. It just didn't feel right anymore. Funny how that feeling then fixed any potential problems I might run into now. No swearing on my channel = awesome!

Blame the people who want their products and services advertised on a clean video. YouTube needs to make money. They aren't banning the videos, they are doing what the people who pay the bills want. I think we can all understand that. You have the right to take off your shirt and say bad words. At most jobs you'd get sent home and eventually fired for it.

One thing people might not know is that, at least in tv and radio, advertisers are told in advance what is being shown around the time their ad airs. and by allowing the ad to air, it is in a way, an approval of the material that it sponsored. Tv isn't free and commercials or subscriptions pay for it. But on YouTube, there's so many videos there's no way to know, so I'm guessing it's just a blanket approval of the TOS. Maybe YouTube red funds can go to that since you are then the revenue source? Just like HBO you pay for the stuff OTA won't?

This has been going on for ages, at least a year. It's certainly nothing new. There have been loads of threads in the monetization forum of people being affected by it. Those monetization rules were put in place ages ok. I guess people like DeFranco only cry about it when it affects them.

If I put myself in the shoes of an advertiser, then I certainly wouldn't want my products and services being associated with some of the crap that gets uploaded on YouTube and that's the reasoning behind it. $ talks.
