I guess I would have to watch the actual video to see what he said. It will be an interesting read as this thread continues.

for those saying "its youtube, its their rules, you have to live by them if you want to upload" easy to say when it does not effect you. someone gets screwed over because they talk about their own mental illness, or someone just reporting the news? thats ridiculous. yeah you can still upload videos about anything but some people survive of the ad revenue. this is peoples jobs, they built something from the ground up, spent thousands of hours building a audience and without ANY warning youtube just decides this? thats fair? i find it bizarre if you think that

its easy to say that until it effects you, hey gamer guys, no more GTA or Call of Duty because its violent. hey @JRTrax no more madden because its violent. what if twitter decided no one is allowed to bad mouth the dallas cowboys, if they do, they get banned because hey, the CEO is a cowboys fan, or better yet. the Instagram CEO has banned all women from instagram because he is a sexist. but hey its okay, its his platform he can do what he wants...................[DOUBLEPOST=1472690347,1472690249][/DOUBLEPOST]
I agree with a lot of what you said. They chose to abide by youtube's terms when they signed up for a youtube account. I'm inclined to take anything Philip says with a huge bucket of salt (because I have no respect for him as I think he lacks understanding and good character). So there's that. He's probably not telling the whole story. I can almost guarantee it.

well just google the videos made by a load of other youtubers saying the same thing if it makes you feel better lol

Amen to that!! Some of the bigger youtubers (who are genuinely nice people btw) will get massive knocks to the money they receive (that pays for the food in their fridge and the roof over their heads for most of them). And I don't even wanna think of some of the smaller youtubers...their channel will be destroyed!

False. Their was warning. Months ago YouTube updated their terms of service to include these things. This was discussed by many big YouTubers at the time. If YouTube told me I had to change what I do then I would adapt or not exist. Those would be my options. I have a friend that get copyright strikes and claims quite often. Can't for the life of him figure out why he can't use other people content in his videos for profit and feels that YouTube is wrong. Rules are rules and it is highly advised we follow them. Even the ones we don't like.

So this only applies to monetization? Like... if I never planned on monetizing then it doesn't matter for me? Just concerned because I'm currently uploading a video with loads of swearing and sexual humor.

I'm not trying to argue with you buddy. :D Just contributing to the discussion. I do think it's interesting that they haven't just decided to mark those videos for older audiences.

Well with the new changes stuff like this is already happening which absolutely disgusts me, and other youtubers are already being messed up..this is not a good idea AT ALL. (Also sorry about language in these screenshots)

firstly why bring your friends views on copyright in to this? its not even remotely close to what we are talking about. thats just theft lol

as for the ToS. i saw that. the big new thing was harassment and cyber bullying. yet they don't enforce that in the slightest. if you have rules, then fine. stick to them, ALL of them, don't pick and chose rules to enforce because no one will have an f'ing clue whats going on. you can't have stuff in the terms of service for years and years (which most of this stuff was) then out of the blue start using them against people without so much as a "hey, this is what we are doing now"

2292280fd7511705e416c875829c1bda.png

how much of these "new" updated rules are being followed? how many of the youtube creators here experienced some really negative horrible comments (there is usually a thread everyday on the subject) yet it still goes on and from the same people. so of ALL the things to crack down on first they chose swearing? gimme a break

so swearing is bad. talking about mental illness is bad. reporting on natural disasters or other bad news is bad (even if you don't show anything graphic) and yet full on bullying channels (leafyishere is a good example) and those disgusting "prank" "social experiment" channels just carry on as normal. people being disgusting in the comments continuously just carry on posting their crap. youtube needs to sort out it's priorities

also there are a million companies that pay youtube to advertise. why not just age gate stuff. or do a better job at showing the right ad's to the right people. stop showing f*cking tampon ad's to my 97% male audience![DOUBLEPOST=1472693409,1472693305][/DOUBLEPOST]
