Hi all,

I was recently recording a vlog on a busy road bridge and I've only now noticed, in editing, that the audio is clipping on my speech. It's not awful awful, but it is a bit buzzy... I know I can't get the data back that's been lost by the clipping, but does anyone know of some magic buttons to help salvage it?

Thanks!

Greg

You could try a low pass filter to get rid of the high frequencies from clipping.

noise removal could help... Depends on the program you're using!

Clipping represents audio signals in excess of what the recording setup was able to handle. It essentially means that for those positions in the recording, there is zero data. It's kinda like whiteout in photography. There is no data and therefore, you cannot recover or make it usable and the clips will be audible no matter what you do to the track. Now, you probably need to compress the audio as clipping normally happens as an audio spike outside of the regular realm of recording, so compression could help make the surrounding audio a more pleasant level.
