how long does it take to become one of the youtubers that you can be talked about in schools and jobs and such. I was told it could take up to 3 years.
 
I think it depends on the person and the content, I haven't even hit 100 subs and I've been doing it for over a year, maybe that's because people don't like my videos, but one thing for certain is that it'll take a lot of dedication!
 
I don't think there's a set amount of time, it all depends on your channel, content and luck. Good luck getting there though! :)

Edit: It also depends on how do you define "big". 10,000 subscribers? 100,000? A million?
 
look most 5 to 10 years, but thats because their quality was not good, Vine - Youtube is the best way nowadays

when i hit 50 subs it boost my motivation now im at 81 in less than 2 months. if i double in the next month or 2 and then triple i say i should get close to my years goal which is 3k subs by the end of 2014
