If you plan on lots of outdoor based films, then yes, but to be honest the quality's not as good as it could be and the microphone is horrible. Great for adventures though - you should add background music if you do.

For me, it really depends on what you're doing. If you're just going to use it to film Day-In the life type things, you could get by on a cellphone that shoots HD. However if you're looking for innovative angles, and action shots and some great POV type stuff. Then yeah they're worth it.
