Hello Everyone,

My Youtube name is Duster McDangles and I am reaching out to everyone on how to grow your channel from scratch. I started really uploading videos about a month ago and have 31 subscribers. My videos range from Vlogs to gaming content. Are there any words of advice or suggestions on how I might be able to grow some more? I have optimize social media and also posting up posters around town where I live and did not work. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

31 in a month, that's awesome, first of all joining here is a step in the right direction, then I would suggest just getting involved in communities that align with your channel content, be social and the growth will follow. and proper SEO practices are a big thing (title description, tags etc.) just do some market research and keep uploading!

Hey Duster!

The gaming community of YouTube can be a tough nut to crack. There are more gaming channels than anything else out there on YouTube. I have found that creating the most unique content possible and really taking advantage of social media are the best things you can do. I have had a lot of luck with Twitter and Reddit. When you post a video on twitter I find that it helps to tweet your video @ a relevant account that has a lot of subscribers. For example if I am posting a video about a review I did about a Razer keyboard I would say something like. "Check out my new review of the @Razer blackwidow X" That way your video will show up on the page of that account which will drive a lot more traffic to your channel.

If you choose to post a link to Reddit be careful of which subreddit you post to and try not to come off as self promoting instead ask a question or make the post come off more like sharing the content with an audience that will appreciate it.

Good luck with your channel my friend.

I don't think we need to go to that great of lengths yet.

Yes, the gaming and vlog scenes are the most saturated YouTube genres available, so you do need to stand out in some way. You can do this through marketing your channel to appear unique and professional. Something that grabs peoples attention and shows that you're going to stick with the YouTube community and not give up.

Here's some things I would recommend improving.

1) Your profile picture looks squished. Make a square 100x100 image in an image editor like Adobe Fireworks, Photoshop, Gimp, Microsoft Paint something that you feel confident in using.
2) What is your uploading schedule? Daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly? What day of the week specifically? Put this in your banner and about page.
3) Your thumbnails are unique and using a sharp neon color so that will catch my eye which is very good, but putting your logo or face in them will help brand them so that people will feel compelled to click on those videos. Also I can't read the font, use a black shadow underneath it.
4) Change the layout of your front page. It's blank.
