A necessity for gaming channels!

Regardless, I don't see how making Xbox One gameplays are going to boost your channel exposure and give you thousands if views. You still have to compete with all the other several thousand channel who are doing the same thing. If you are a small channel, chances are it won't help much.

Views. Everybody will have a PC but not many people will have an xbox one.

I don't understand the argument.

• Less people will have an Xbox One than a PC: FACT
• The Xbox One will be HEAVILY Searched by people who just want to see what it looks like
• I can't worry about the millions of other channels, but I can put myself into a better position by getting the latest equipment.

I have 1340 subs and am gaining at about a rate of 12 per day. My channel is buzzing right now and I'm in a good position. I've gained 875 subs in the last 3 months alone and this is month 10 of my YouTube channel. The genre I do, doesn't have a PC version out and with the PS4 not being able to record, I have a SMALL market.

This is a chance for me to boost my channel and improve my buzz. This is only the 2nd time that my channel has buzzed like this and I want to ride it out for as long as I can. What better way than to get an xbox One? It'll generate more views than my xbox 360 gameplays and I'll get a reputation as having daily nex gen gameplays. It can only help and like I said, I'm not looking for a miracle nor am I concerned with the millions of people getting an xbox one.

Many people are waiting to get the new systems anyway. I have about a 2 month window to capitalize on getting the system early, I'll be home for Winter Break, so I'll have TONS of time, and I'll get my channel going. I'm definitely excited, have already pre-ordered and am going to use the new consoles to my advantage.

The reality of the situation is that every other gaming commentator on YouTube that is going to be purchasing any of the next-gen consoles will be thinking along the same lines. All you really can do is try to make your content stand out from the rest, and have a little bit of luck on your side. Best of luck to you!

Thank you man. Don't know why people came off so rude but it is what it is. People saying I'd just be another person doing un-boxing videos when I never once mentioned that. Also, people saying that it won't be a miracle for my channel so don't get my hopes up and then you have the people telling me to get a PC or it won't matter whether I get an Xbox One.

PC isn't relevant because the game I cover doesn't have a PC version. The miracle comment was really disrespectful, especially because he was insinuating that I needed a miracle for my channel. I'm an established channel with over 1,000 subs in 10 months. Just because I don't have a channel listed doesn't mean that I don't have one.

But I'm not here to argue. I was just trying to help out a few struggling gaming channels that were looking for a way to boost their channel. Thanks for the responses everyone.

OP, it really just comes down to how your post was written. People like to argue.

The fact of the matter is that early adoption ALWAYS gets your more views than late adoption. Those of you claiming that it's pointless to get the new consoles in order to try to be competitive are being silly. Of course it's a good idea for console channels. There has not been a complete shift in console generation like what is happening this year with Xbox One and PS4 during the lifetime of YouTube itself (Xbox 360 was released before YouTube was founded, PS3 came out about a year after). Just let that sink in for a while, The Xbox 360 is older than YouTube.

Arguing that it's pointless when such a dynamic shift has never happened before is simply stupid.

Whether you do console content or PC, you must acknowledge that having a launch console is huge. Not only does it give you the advantage of simply being the new kit (if you record in high enough quality), but you also have potential day one access to every game that comes out as people are searching and switching over from their dated 360s and PS3s. Timed exclusives will be big, complete exclusives will be big. It's an exciting time. Claiming people won't be searching for this content is just phenominally wrong. Of course they will be. 360 and PS3 videos will be considered retro within a couple of years.

No problem. I don't necessarily think that people commenting here were trying to be rude. It may have seemed that way by the way that it was worded but, I think for the most part they were just trying to tell you to stray from what everyone else(big/medium/small channels)would likely do in the same situation. Also the likelihood of someone searching the term "Xbox One" when attached to a game may not be as far fetched either. You can safely assume that most general search terms wouldn't include it, but there are those out there that might want to compare how something looks to one another, and some people like to be specific about stuff. You never know I suppose.

As for the whole PC thing, a comparison will always happen. As it's the nature of the whole my e-peen is bigger and what not. Not saying that's what's ultimately going on here, but some things do look and run better on certain systems. And generally PC is only limited by your hardware, coupled with the fact that titles if not released on day one with consoles will(generally)eventually get there. Neither party is really wrong here as it's a matter of opinion/personal preference.

The miracle comment was just that, it's a comment and while it may be disheartening to hear it's another one of those things that's just going to happen. They're not so much right in the regard that with all of the gaming community making the same kind of video, but they aren't really wrong either as you'll need a bit of luck and elbow grease to make your video stand out and be relevant from the rest.

Either way, just do what you think is best. Advice/suggestion is always appreciated.

To be honest I think it may also depend on the channel, to be exact. For example someone who has a decent fan base will no doubt benefit from it. As said above, you will definitely gain a reputation for having a constant and daily show of next-gen gameplays. All it takes is word of mouth to really boost or get you going. My channel has recently grown since getting a semi-viral video, I know for sure when I receive my Xbone on release people will be watching, especially my subs and others following from the viral video. NOT LONG NOW... LONG LIVE XBONE!! I kid.

For the money you spent on that Xbox One you can save up some more money and get a beast of a gaming PC and play most of these games that will come out on Xbox One / PS4 on the PC.
Not all that many exclusive games will come out on Xbox One or PS4. So, get yourself that Beast PC so you can play the new games such as Watchdogs, The Division etc on Ultra settings on your PC.
PC Gaming will always be superior in graphics compared to consoles.

So, yes you are right when you show off the system it might get you views, but in general people rather watch a PC gaming video than a console one for one simple fact and that is better graphics.
Also if you do get an Xbox One or PS4 for that matter, make sure you record the games that are exclusive for that console.

You are right, PC Gaming is more difficult to understand but lately I just think consoles really lack exclusive only games. Back in the day consoles had a lot of exclusive only titles but the times have changed and developers most of the time get asked to create a port of the game. This goes from ports from PC to console as also from console to PC. However you are right there are some really big YouTubers who play on console (Mostly Call of Duty & Battlefield).
