Hi, I have been hearing these rumors that you can play 30 seconds of any copyrighted song? Is that true? I was wondering if I could use that tool for some of my videos.
Don't risk it. Music is the easiest path to a copyright strike.
Free music is available in the "Create" tab of the Creator Studio
Also, just search 'creative commons' music in the youtube search bar.
Also, here's a bit of unsolicited advice: If that 12 seconds was for an intro, then your intro is waaaayyy too long. Cut that down to 4 seconds or cut it out completely.
No one subscribes to a channel because of dubstep intros. In the meantime, it's just hurting your audience retention.
Yes, they can unfortunately If you want your intro to be that long, then try using royalty free music. Some companies/labels let you use songs if your video isn't monetized AND/OR if you credit them in your description.
