2015 CPM/post-holiday warning

In addition to @markkaz message, for those who find it a bit difficult/complicated to calculate those numbers with calculator (estimated monetized playbacks divide by total lumber of views and multiply by 100) to get percentage of monetised views, can use online percentage calculators for easier calculation, lets say for me this one looks prety much straight forward:

percentagecalculator (dot) net

(estimated monetized playbacks divide by total lumber of views and multiply by 100)

I can never remember the formula so I take total views and times it by an estimate.
Like this:
45,970 x .33 (33%) Nope, too small, then keep changing it to .34, .35, etc, until I get close LOL

I will try to remember now - Thanks!

I had a video which got covered on various websites and by friday it had 75.000 views and 18.000 monetized playbacks. So around 24-25%. Other videos seem to have a higher rate. Do you know if this "can just happen" because of the post holiday thing or do things like views from embedded sources on other websites affect this, too? Most views actually came from websites like Kotaku or Bleacherreport which covered and embedded it.

Embed videos tend to show fewer pre-rolls so the earnings typically come from banner ads. Banners earn significantly less than pre-rolls.
That's what I thought. Thanks! Still nice to have these views coming in and I hope it helps the video to show up in search and related videos for a while (which should then get better CPM).

That is an excellent outlook to have.

I wonder if that is why fewer pre-rolls appear on embeds. If a pre-roll showed, it might turn off the viewer and they go to another page on that other website. If it's just a banner ad, they may not mind, they may watch the entire video, then when the suggestions appear at the end, they watch another video (which may be yours as well).

Then they get sucked into the YouTube vortex LOL

Yeah, better than the other outlook:
All those new subs unsubscribing after the next few videos once they realize that I usually don't electrocute myself :D
(Hey, at least I am being realistic here. haha)

Do you guys see any improvements in monetization for Mar 2015, for me its still way down more than 60% as compare to Dec 2014. Anyone know whats going on with advertisers and why so low rates for ads on Youtube :(

Same old sh*t here too. Waiting for increase :)
btw: if you compare earning rates with December month, you will always see lower rates the whole year (exept maybe June month sometimes) so December isnt the best month to compare with :)

I'm with ZoomIn and in december was 3.24, january 2.33 and february 1.88. It's bad, but last week increased a little.
I guess everything is getting normal.
