2,000 Channels in the Millions!!

I think I was just kind of surprised by the number of channels that got that far. I've never thought about it before. Compared to how many active channels there are overall, I guess it really isn't a big deal ;P YouTube is getting bigger every day so I'm just curious on what they will do next, after YouTube Red.

I think that getting a million subscribers is a HUGE achievement!

You've made me wonder if there the number of creators on YouTube vs. the number of creators who have one million subscribers have both increased at the same rate. I have a feeling that this isn't the case, as the number of people who have subscribed to those are the most popular have increased more exponentially than the subscriber count from the smaller/less significant YouTube accounts. I hope that this is not the case because I've just started uploading videos recently.

More people are coming online from all around the world.
The world population is growing.
Internet speeds are improving, which means more people can access YouTube on a regular basis.

These factors help a lot in my opinion.

Honestly, I don't think other people hitting 1 million subs will matter. What matters most is when I hit a million subs, and after that 5 the 10 then 20 lol....[DOUBLEPOST=1460134284,1460134128][/DOUBLEPOST]

More people going on Youtube equals to more people making content. Even if a guy has been watching videos in a long time will tend to try to make videos too...many people think more channels on Youtube equals to more views or whatever but that is not the case

I don't know that it's anything to worry over. More people on Youtube, more successful channels, what's wrong with more people being up there? What makes it less special by there being more? There's different channels for everyone, not everyone is going to like the same thing. Like others have said there's a larger population, more people with access to the internet, the internet is constantly evolving, etc! I think it's great YouTube is becoming such a large platform and allowing more and more people to do what they love. The more the merrier ;)

I believe hitting 1 mil is still an amazing feat. I believe once youtube isn't profitable Pewds would stop making as much content. I wonder how youtube would be affected if pewdiepie ever decided to give up on youtube.

1 million subs can be more of a testament to longevity than popularity. The longer YouTube is around, necessarily the number of channels hitting this milestone will only increase. I don't think it's anything less special though--it's really hard to conceive of convincing 1 million people to do anything.

I just hope YouTube doesn't decide to drop the play buttons. There been "limited" for years, betcha they'll stop them just when I get 100k lol

Threads like this make me laugh... A million subscribers is a huge achievement. You get a gold play-button for that, and when you get an award like that you know it's a pretty big deal. 100K is the first milestone that gets you an award, and that number is seemingly insurmountable by most YouTubers including myself.
