To Eat the Copyright or not to eat the copyright

HELLLO.
My channel is a collective we are still very very small, we do Vlogs. We all have a cinematography or photography background so the idea is to target the creative audience.

BUT... As I'm trying to put out my best work I want to use the music I think adds the most to the film. That being said I have gotten a copyrighted on almost every one of my films. Its one of those "they have the right to monetize on my video" copyrights.

My initial thought was why not just put out my best films regardless of the copy writes since at this stage we are not monitoring the channel yet (just too new)..

What are your guys thoughts? Too embrace the early copyright and just adjust later.. Pros and Cons ?

Knowing that, at any given moment, they have the opportunity to give you a copyright strike or ban your video from playing in certain locations would be more than enough of a deterant for me to find other musical choices.

Well pros are you get to use the music and your videos turn out how you envisioned them. Cons are you risk a high chance of getting a strike, or even a copyright ban due to breaking the rules.

At the end of the day, the people who made the music are the ones who set the rules and you're disrespecting the time, effort and money they put into making their music by disobeying. I really don't recommend using their music unless you contact the creators directly and get an OK, otherwise there's a whole bunch of libraries with copyright free music that I'm sure you can find something that will fit your films! Plus you never know what kind of trouble you could have in the future, better stick with safe over sorry.

So youtube might do that even if the Artist already agreed to just monetize on the video ? Yeah I guess I should just put more time into networking with some artists or using CC music

If you are checking Music Policies and a song is in there, that should let you know what the artist/copyright holder has agreed with YouTube. If they have chosen to block in some or all countries, it will say that. I have heard from others that sometimes, copyright holders change their policies, but I have not seen this firsthand.

No, not YouTube, the artists have that right at any time if they happen to change their mind.

It should also be said that, since you're focus is in cinematography, if you ever make a piece to fully show off your talents, film festivals won't accept you if you don't have the proper rights to all audio and video used.

i had one video that is now at 22,749 views that started monetized by the song creator, you may end up getting more attention because of the claim, also even if your big or small youtube puts more attention on videos that are monetized
