The Cons of Joining Fullscreen

Really? This is news to me. How do you know they don't have the rights? And if they didn't, why would they make a separate network for it? Why don't they just accept gamers through fullscreen? VlogRays has a gaming channel that he partnered through FSA, and he's never had a problem. Besides, people with legit contracts get in trouble all the time. About a month ago, AVGN got in trouble for using some Sega game, and he's with TGS.
They don't go after every partner. Not all networks have rights for every games. TGS and Machinima don't have all of them either. And I saw a thread here yesterday where someone said that Fullscreen emailed them with a warning about it. I'd try and find it but I don't remember the title or what section it was in

Well, that's interesting. I'll let VlogRays know not to monetize his gaming videos anymore, since it could get him banned. As for the gaming licenses, there are some brands like EA and various sports games that just don't give out the licenses, but as far as getting general rights to monetize gaming videos most of them have the sufficient rights. That's why new gaming networks spring from the likes of Fullscreen, TGN or Maker rather than being seperate, because it's easier for them to get their licensing without getting sued.

Not even a clue who that is. But go ahead. If you're a gamer, Fullscreen is not the place for you. If you produce any other kind of content, go ahead. As for EA, Machinima has rights to all sports games, Battlefield 3, and Need for Speed.

In terms of cons, there are times when it's really difficult to get a pre-roll ad served on your videos. We never had an issue when we were with adsense, but there are times under Fullscreen when it seems like we just get the lower paying pop up ads, which really cuts into our revenue. Gorilla ads are a double edged sword. You cannot remove them (by changing the start time of a video) if you have over 10k views, so if you want to monetize the video later on, your viewers will see a pre-roll and a gorilla before getting to your video. That hurts the view count. Premium ads seem to be at a minimum, even when we have super ad friendly videos.

Anyone know whether Yeousch has more gaming licenses than Fullscreen? They are the gaming sub-network for Fullscreen.

I will say that Fullscreen is a great network, now with the people that are saying that Fullscreen doesn't really help promote smaller channels and dont give that much audience to small channels...Think about this, why would they help a small channel when really that should be you doing that. Also if you try to get their attention through twitter, they do pay attention and shout you out here and there which helps.

I'm always looking to promote channels via Twitter/FB, no matter what the size. :)

...if there's even any.
I've been reading so many positive things about fullscreen but haven't really heard of anything negative about them. Is it because they're just that amazing?
I am debating on whether to sign the contract with them or not so the point of this thread is really to get a good idea of what the company is about- not just the good side to them.. after-all it is a two year contract. So I guess my real question here is- have you had any issues with Fullscreen? Has it been resolved, and what would you do differently (if that even applies to your situation). If you have anything else to add, I would appreciate it :]

While I'd like to think we have no cons, it's really about whether you think our network is the best fit for you channel. We offer amazing audience development tools, the opportunity to make a lot more money through our Gorilla campaigns and from our biz dev team who direct-sell ad inventory to raise CPMs by selling to a more focused audience base, and we have numerous sub-networks to better match you up with great opportunities for collaboration and promotion. Hope this helps!

Thanks to everyone who left feedback so far!

On a side note, I just found out that yt is going to be changing the looks of our channels. So being able to customize our channels is no longer going to be a perk when joining Fullscreen :( (not that it would have been the only reason I'd join lolz).

Anyway about collabs- do any of you find it particularly easy finding others to collab with or is it the same whether you're with Fullscreen or not?
