RPM

CPM is how much you get paid per 1000 Monetized views, its directly effected by the Ad's that are on your video.

That's what I thought but no where can I find in the contract a set amount for that. Just a split in %. So how would one find that? I mean google shows it but I'm under the impression that's not correct or its before the split.

90% of networks, have percentage based contracts which means you get a percentage of the revenue gained of each 1000 views (RPM)

That`s only for fixed CPM contracts, not many networks do that anymore because it isn`t really beneficial anymore.

Thanks Shane that's how I understood it to be. It makes since in the long run but for smaller channels a set CPM doesn't skin so bad. But I think we all want what we're worth.

Nope, CPM is bigger for bigger channels, that`s a complete myth,
Fixed CPMs arn`t ever worth while unless you`re from a country with a .50$ average CPM and you can get a network to give you a 2$ fixed CPM.

So for example someone has 1mil views a year just an example. How much do you think they're making in that year

Prob around $3000 on average when you take into account not all are monetized, but it ranges massively depending on many factors, Some people will get way less some people will get way more.

Depends on the network and how good they are at ad sales and it also depends on which month it is, lets just work on average for June.

1000000 / 1000 = 1000 * 0.7 = 700(700k montizable views) * 5(average CPM) = 3500$ * 0.8 (70/30 split with a network) = 2800$ (total revenue for partner)

yay my 3000$ guess was good :D

so for people going to socialblade and looking someone up to see what they're making how can they gauge that. Plus social blade has a very wide range from x-x a day or x-x a year. low end or high end.

I mean I'm making peanuts and I'm not looking at the money aspect of it just yet. I want to make higher quality videos and offer something to my viewers and then worry about the money after I've made a name for myself and it's start to really occupy my time.

It all depends though, like a channel with good audience retention with 9)% of their viewers in English speaking countries in December, could easily get a 8-20$ CPM
